One thing edgy doesn't understand is that ethnicity is a social construct and you can have people be assimilated into your ethnicity through integration, to a point where the migrants only identify as the same as the major ethnicity of the nation and speak your language. Turks, Arabs and Persians today are a product of many people being turkified, Persianized and arabized, yet all of them identifying as the same ethnicity, speaking the same language and having the same culture more or less.

Yeah, no.

Finland was under Swedish rule for over 400 years, and under Russian rule for over 200 years. Despite both regimes doing their best to wipe out the Finnish language, religion, and culture both by carrot and by stick, we came out with all of them more or less intact, because genitically, we are not Swedes and we are not Russians, and therefore, we didn't assimilate to their foreign culture. Even today, after heavy persecution and brutal slaughter by the USSR, Finnish minorities still exist in today's Russia.

"Assimilation" has never worked. The only way you can have a multiracial/ethnic society is the Yogoslavian model of authoritarian suppression of the different groups' interests.
