Modernism wasn't just a new style in architecture, it was the very conscious and deliberate (and political) rejection of everything that had come before

So only designs that could be justified "rationally" and "scientifically" were constructed and everything else was discarded. In reality of course, modernist buildings usually worked extremely poorly, since many of the architectural features that had developed over the centuries had done so because they worked, even if no one had quantified exactly *why* they worked.

Much of modern architecture influence came from the English Arts and Crafts movement, which was austere, and rejected ornament, as they saw it as unneccessary and "savage"-like, just read essay "Ornament and Crime" by Adolf Loos for example.

In conjunction with the industrial revolution, modern architects became obessed with crafting SPACE, not neccessarily colors or ornament. However, it quickly fell into a very machine-like methodology, hence why modern cities today look so repetitive and dull, because its a standardized "Miesan" glass box. Although people love to blame kikes for this, many architects hated the Jews, especially Frank Lloyd Wright.

With main parts of the Stadtschloss being rebuilt, it was the question, to also reinstall this cross.

That city works because it's well designed and laid out, with well engineered buildings, not because the architecture is pretty.
