Yes I really think that as I've watched some reality TV shows and followed them online in the past. Specifically the Real Housewives series.

Most of the viewers realize perfectly well that it's mostly scripted and that everyone is trying to act. Though there is a mix of reality tossed in which can make it a bit fun.

Like on Real Housewives of Atlanta, which focused on a whole bunch of black women that were trying to look like they were upper class women of the city. On the show one of the women turned out to be practically broke, having been an ex-poll dancer (probably prostitute too) who was trying to use the show to create a brand for herself to try that she could profit from to get out of the mess she and her husband were in financially. It actually worked even. People watching the show understood much of this which makes it all the more entertaining, as you're watching people that are some of the most crass individuals imaginable that are trying to look like they're all the epitome of class and repeatedly failing miserably.

Also unrelated fun fact: Bravo, the channel that does these Real Housewives shows plus bunch of other reality TV shows, did a poll of their viewers to see who they were wanting to vote for and majority said Trump.

Let's face it, it targets low-hanging fruit. E.g. running over WBC protesters is like punching Adolf Hitler - no-one will be offended. How is that edgy? And remember, that's a pro-gay message.

It's a movie that shits on some parts of modern society's degeneracy without singling out too many groups. So maybe it's a pamphlet saying a redpill is out there, but that's it.

The movie was trying to be revenge porn against those that just seem rude and those promoting being rude.

The problem the movie suffers from is it is based on the idea that people want to be like those on reality TV shows when the reality is most people, while entertained by those on TV, don't necessarily want to be taking on their negative characteristics.

It comes across as pretty outdated now since most of us are familiar with the hate mobs that form over social media, which is a more realistic way that society is being brought down as a whole rather than some reality TV shows.
