The best way to feel out a town is to stick to the area you're in and wander around on instinct. Eventually, you will find interesting. I travelled all across Europe in the early 2000s and I'm really grateful that I had that experience. It was cozy as fuck with great history and met some really amazing people. Now that it is overrun by the third world, I suspect that it would be a very different experience. Every time I have travelled abroad though, nomatter how nice the country was that I was visiting, I was always glad to be home. For all of our problems, the USA really is the best place on earth to live. I live in a very white area though, so maybe those living in brown towns wouldn't agree.

I went to the USA once, and stayed in New York. I wished to return to the UK almost immediately. Everyone was so unbelievably impolite.

Visited Germany in the 90s, it was very nice. Hung out wish some biker gang or something. They might have been nazis.

Visited France, also in the 90s, they were seriously rude people, and the whole place stunk of shit, from the moment you got off the channel tunnel.
