Even when one corporation has 100% market share, it's not a monopoly because they still compete with the prospect of not being competitive enough to discourage another company joining the race. They also compete with other sectors. A donut "monopolist" competes with a burger "monopolist."

TLDR
It is very easy to create a monopoly especially in growing industries I.e. microsoft etc.

As Peter Thiel put it
"those running a monopoly will seek to persuade others they exist in a single tiny market"
"those struggling to break into a market controlled by monopolies will not have the resources to convince others it is a monopoly"

In a world of perfect competition a tremendous amount of resources are spent. Often as a businessman in a highly competitive market you don't make money off of it. Making monopolies the best way to increase profit for the one running the monopoly, with profits they can then use to manipulate other groups not even governments just other groups to ensure their monopoly remains absolute.

All governments are tricked, or willing to allow some monopolies.
Any An-Cap society would need a group specifically dedicated to breaking down monopolies (somehow accruing profit in the process or they would collapse)
Anon above mentions horse and buggy--> innovating out from underneath a monopoly (although like Microsoft or google if its information is not open source it would rapidly develop into a new monopoly)
Monopolies are shored up by the state. removing the state removes a support strut forcing it to adapt to the consumers demands or die... not all monopolies are terrible adapting growing ones may be useful until they are broken down by individuals seeking to make an entrance into the monopolies controlled market.

Make it easier to start / run businesses so that if "Joe Everyman" thinks he can outperform "Scary Megacorp" in any aspect of its business he can give them an honest run for their money.

Reduce the size and power of government so "Scary Megacorp" spends less time lobbying for favourable laws / treatment and more time on their customers.
