I've been in these threads from the first thread. Been pouring over these texts over the past couple days.

There's been some discussion of Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun series, and while it doesn't necessarily tie in directly with the meme magic we're seeing with the Lockwood novels, I think it may be the best example of the time travel I think may be at play. Prepare yourself for a wall of text

The Book of the New Sun is an incredibly complex work, full of hidden meanings, dense symbolism, a meta-narrative and self-referential structure, and a text which constantly refers back to itself which fit in with its overarching themes. For many reasons, it is an essential /pol/ approved series and you should read it irrespective of it's connection to Trump, time travel, meme magic, et al. My concern for this post isn't necessarily a direct literary analysis of the text. Rather, it's presentation and handling of time travel. If you don't like spoilers, don't read further.

Like I said, the narrative is incredibly complex, but I'll try to give a quick breakdown of the main plot and particularly what may be of use to us trying to figure out what's going on. I'll green text it to try and make it quicker. Keep in mind, this is in no way an exhaustive summary of the entire narrative. This is simply a quick snapshot of the plot and the major time traveling aspects which I believe may shed light on what's happening WARNING—LARGE WALL OF TEXT INCOMING:

>Book begins with him waking up, dreaming that he drowned.
>Claims to have eidetic (perfect) memory (As the text goes on, TINY bits of info contradict some of his previous statements. So he either DOESN'T have perfect memory or his lying or making memory slips between different versions of himself..more on this last point later).

>Fight breaks outright
>Some soldiers trying to kill Vodalus
>Severian saves Vodalus
>They bro out and Vodalus hands him a coin with a symbol on it

>Nuns are looking for the gem (called the Claw of the Conciliator).

>Meets an android and a THICC slut,
>Android is from the past (he was a 'sailor'--but he sailed the stars...possibly a korean chink from our time).
>THICC slut is actually the waiter at the first inn he met. She was transformed by the giant and doctor through genetic modification/android hybridization.
>Is tasked with executing someone in the town
>Ends up having to execute the brother who fought him in the duel
>Agia is pissed.

Someone in the previous thread suggested that maybe we have it all wrong and time, outside of our personal experiences, runs backwards. so the acts of today are causing these anomalies in our "past".
Imagine if time in the Universe ran backwards while simultaneously humans experience time running forwards. So as we age into the future, the future is racing into the past around us. Unnoticeable to use moving forward aside from remnants we see like this.

you know I've considered this before and even went so far as thinking that Atlantis was really America and that eventually we'll sink beneath the see or experience disaster.
