maybe boring is the wrong word (although i had a hard time staying awake through the whole thing, then again i was probably 16 when i saw it). my problem with it is that it relied way too much on shock value and when you have a 2 hour long movie about people eating shit with hardly any substance in between, its going to desensitize you early on and negate the impact it should have on you.
i just don't think the director understood the source material (read the book, its more fucked up believe it or not but the message is more clear) and just wanted to make a sleazy shock movie, which were common in that era.
