I don't deny that powerful countries will tend to abuse foreign populaces, however I do believe that the British would tend to be particularly abusive.

As for the United States, we were actually very merciful, such as the case with the treaty of higaldo Guadeloupe at the end of the Mexican American war.
Sure Indians were maltreated, but one must keep in mind the brutal infringements on American settlers on the part of Indians.

We had concentration camps, which were work camps, not actual death camps. Germany had work camps during WWII.
In Cromwell's eyes, he was paying Catholics back for some massacre they did against Protestants IIRC. With your logic about the natives, Cromwell was justified.

Well the issue with the Indians was there concept of property ownership and their ethics in war, which differed vastly from Europeans

They did this to the settler as well when they arrived, one of the most noteable being the ft mims massacare where pregnant women were found with their faces smashed in and their unborn cut from their wombs
