Someone had drugs in that car at some point. False positives are just the dog picking up the scent of a joint or whatever that you've already ditched.

Tested this one a while back with mine. We use these little pouches for drug detection work that smell like canabis or cocaine, etc. Had a guy walk around with one in his pocket all day then put his jeans through the wash. Dog still pointed the pocket two days after (fyi a lot will get the dog to point depending on drug, eg jump for marijuana, sit for cocaine, etc)

well yea if you train a dog to detect drugs \ incapacitate suspects and the dog sees that 90% of the people who have drugs on them or are involved in crimes are black its gonna be more suspicious towards blacks .

Yes, and people really don't seem to appreciate this. Domesticated dogs have a fantastic understanding of human behavior and it is really unsurprising that they can detect a person that is mentally unsound.

We did selectively breed them for their ability to 'get along' in a domestic setting, and a part of this was their ability to understand human behavior.

Yeah, no. Quite a lot of dogs that have jet black coats, have never seen dogs treat them differently without cause. Any time they are treated differently its because of a personality issue (shy, nervous, aggressive, agitated, etc).

Same goes for people. They're not scared of a darker shade, it's more subtle than that.

quite frankly, dogs do respond a little different when they approach a dog with a jet black coat. they will approach it with either caution, by useing their nose to pick up a scent from the black object in question to confirm that it is a dog for confirmation, or outright fear by defensive posture, which includes the fur on their backs to stand up, and loud obnoxious barking to appear as a threat.

it is literally the same thing with humans, except we are superior to them. if you are white, they can see your body language and act accordingly, if you are white present welcoming, freidnly body language, dog will respond the same way,m if presenting fear, anxious, agression, dog will respond in the same way, all from a relative distance. darker shades are harder for them to determine for them at a greater distance so you have to get close and over exaggerate your body language, or else the dog won't be able to read you and they will respond in fear.

Theres some truth to that. Dogs can pick up on human behavior and even smell angst. Theres decent research that shows they can even smell the difference in our sweat when we're producing adrenaline and other hornones which would show something is going on. It makes sense, theyv essentially evolved to pick up on human behavior to best serve us.
