As far as I know it is not true. The opposite, they are building several new big mosques, for example in Bari, and they don't even know where the money comes from (saudi, qatar, probably).
What right wing cities do, is to slow down the approval for the building permits, so it takes 20 years for a mosque to get built, but they have hundreds of illegal mosques in garages or gyms or former industrial areas, etc.
