if you do 5 reps your muscles will become stronger

In either case you should have days off for your muscles to recuperate

It all depends on how you train. Mass doesn't always equate strength, density and the type of fibre in the muscle does. To train strength you should lift heavier weights for fewer reps. Power is developed when you lift very heavy weights for one or two reps. The arm wrestler also has technique on his side.

The lesson is that you shouldn't just be hitting the gym, you should be learning some kind of martial art.

There's more than one type of muscle. Strength training gives you explosive power, but endurance training gives you staying power though not as much size. Relatively light weight + a metric fuckton of repetitions is going to make you much stronger than only lifting heavy all the time. Doing both can make you ridiculously strong.

Cardio burns a lot of calories, and that makes you lose weight because it generally puts people in a caloric deficit. BUT, if you are able to eat at a caloric surplus despite all the extra burned calories from cardio, you don't lose any mass.

So you can become both bigger/stronger, and get fit at the same time, but it is more work.

I live in rural areas, where its almost mandatory to carry a working knife with you all the times, it saves lives.

I dont really have a swo...letter opener, but more than 10+ different kind of knives, mostly for work or skinning things or preparing meat.

I've done verticals over 40", in fact Olympic lifters have the highest verticals next to high jumpers/javelin throwers.

Can swim for 90+ mins straight and bike at 50-60km/h on flat terrain for over 2 hours (on a hybrid mountain/street bike, not the gay homosexual bikes). Don't run often because I don't want artificial knees but I can run if need be. In my younger days my resting heart rate when I did a lot of biking my resting heart rate would be around 40.

I bought and read so many books on martial arts as a kid and had a heavy bag/speed bag setup I would practice on religiously I never felt the need. I also grew up like 40 minutes from the nearest town and my parents weren't willing to drive that far.

I honestly liked the MCMAP though. It was interesting in the later stages and the muscle memory/body hardening is useful. As is the knife defense techniques, which a few I have used. I see your point though. I was merely showing that I was military and well versed in the art of fucking shit up.

Arm wrestling is pretty much all in the shoulder, the rotator cuff, and the wrist. Gotta have strong tendons there too. Not too many people work out their rotator cuff to such an extent.
If it were any other strength contest, the guy on the left would win.

Most guys competing in bjj train 6 days a week doing maybe 3 hrs a day , you can't expect everyone to have that level of dedication

Most coaches will recognise and take account of whether someone trains recreationally or for competition and grade them accordingly

Most guys that compete dont necessarily want to get moved up belts either as it makes winning in comps harder and only ups the level of training required to win - this is the case with me , I'm definetly Brown belt "level" but if I wanted to compete in large competitions at Brown belt I would get smashed

The belt hierarchy is a flawed system like that. I have my first dan but there's a green belt I always spar with because he kicks my arse and it's a great challenge. His technical knowledge and ability sucks, but he's just one of these guys that is a natural fighter. I've had him in a gi choke so tight it was drawing blood but he wouldn't tap and just kept hitting me in the face.

After you start stalling on 5x5 strong lifts I'd highly recommend 2_suns 5/3/1 similar linear progression but you gain a lot more in a shorter amount of time I gained around 2.5kg on my 1rm a week with that your mileage may vary
