I personally wouldn't think so. If we can get to post-scarcity with infinite and easily accessible resources it wouldn't be much of a problem. Right now, that is a fantasy though. Until then, the reality of our world is that there are only finite resources.

Relative to GDP, the US spends 3.3% on military. Oman is the highest, at 13.7%. Even Colombia, of all countries, spend more then the US at 3.4%

Up to 5% of mlitary spending is considered normal. Anything else is considered militarized economy which fucks up other sectors.

For instance, SU was spending 15% of its GDP in 80's to keep up with USA.

North Korea spends 7.5 billion $ in a 40 billion economy which makes it 19%.
