How am I supposed to bring my open source laptop into the US without getting shot by airport security? I'm not even a terrorist.
>>133530919
Don't worry we only shoot niggers
>>133530919
declare it a clock, you'll get WH reception
>>133530919
leave the battery pack at home.
>>133530919
Don't bring it through Airport security. Have it shipped to your destination. Inconvenient? Buy a fucking normal laptop.
>>133530919
>How am I supposed to bring my open source laptop into the US without getting shot by airport security?
Before you go through security you are supposed to declare any items that have regulations on them. Just tell the clerk that you are bringing a homemade computer and are afraid it will be considered a bomb due to its appearance.
>>133530919
definitely dont bring that contraption through security, christ that thing screams bomb
>>133530919
Cool clock Ahamed want to come the the white house.

no....never say the word bomb or explosive or terrorist or anything of the
sort
that is terrible advice
ship it to the hotel your staying at they will hold it
>>133530919
don't bring it unless you want massive headaches
If you must have it....ship it with proper labels
>>133530919
Looks like a gun to me
You power it on and show them like every other laptop.
I don't believe it would be any kind of a big deal at all. They use dogs and swabs to check for explosives. Just follow the regulations for the batteries and no one will even notice. Get a holder that keeps them apart, the end.
>whats in the bag
>a computer
>scan shows no hidden plastique
>swab shows no chemical residue
They wont even care or notice if your batteries are seperated
Simple OP, when you put it in the box to go through the TSA checkpoint be sure to yell "DON'T WORRY EVERYONE THIS ISN'T A BOMB, IT'S A FOSS GPL DEVICE" as loud as you can so no one will be confused.
>>133530919
Neat.
Does it run Linux?
>>133530919
1) why would you carry around a raspie without any screen?
2) what is that orange pcb hooked up to the battery pack?
>>133533065
I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part

That is a Jerry Seinfeld tier meme. I have to wear a bone growth stimulator and I literally refer to it ass a "bomb" vest. Never had a problem. Granted I am white and don't have and accent...

My best guess is that it's a charging circuit for the batteries, a 5V boost transformer so the batteries' output voltage is compatible with the RasPi, or a combination of both

yup
tried disconnecting a battery pack from a slice battery and it starded smoking. How do I disconnect that shit?

Every bomb expert and non-idiot would immediately see that is not a bomb.
Too bad TSA and customs are filled with idiots and highschool dropouts. Good luck!
>>13353
Grind it and separate bye elements, bring an chemistry book that shows that it cannot create a big exothermic reaction to TSA.
All of above obviously you must do itNUDE.
>>133540811
Nice to see other electronic hobbyists on here, I've got a pi powering the instrument cluster in my project car.
>>133540811
If it started smoking that probably means there's an internal short circuit in the battery pack, causing the chemical reaction inside it to go out of control. It sometimes happens when you damage the casing too much. I would honestly just place it outside in a metal container and let the chemical reaction do its thing, then put it in a battery disposal when it's dead(after ~24 hours to be on the safe side).

I think you could probably cause a plane to depressurise by shorting out 6 18650s at the same time, if you put them up against the window
I'm going to call TSA, tell them to be on the lookout for a shifty pole with a box of junk
>>133530919
its not going in ur carry on i can tell you that much
>>133533190
I'm terribly sorry for interjecting another moment, but what I just told you is GNU/Linux is, in fact, just Linux, or as I've just now taken to calling it, Just.Linux. Linux apparently does happen to be a whole operating system unto itself and comprises a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Most computer users who run the entire Linux system every day already realize it. Through a peculiar turn of events, I was misled into calling the system "GNU/Linux", and until now, I was unaware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux project.
There really isn't a GNU/Linux, and I really wasn't using it; it is an extraneous misrepresentation of the system that's being used. Linux is the operating system: the entire system made useful by its included corelibs, shell utilities, and other vital system components. The kernel is already an integral part of the Linux operating system, never confined useless by itself; it functions coherently within the context of the complete Linux operating system. Linux is never used in combination with GNU accessories: the whole system is basically Linux without any GNU added, or Just.Linux. All the so-called "GNU/Linux" distributions are really distributions of Linux.
>raspberry pi
>open source
it's got broadcom wifi blob
iirc it's not recommended to put more than 2-3 cells in parallel due to potential for cell imbalance to cause failure (too much current rushing into bad cell)
in any case you need a proper charge controller with undervoltage protection and ideally a thermal fuse
dont fuck with licoo2 if you dont know what you are doing, there are much safer chemistries
>>133543373
>>133533190
I'd just like to interject for a moment. You're both faggots.
>>133541346
Well, linux fags probably have more of a claim to that autist hegemony than others.
