germany is closer to britain than the french and the scandinavians and the southern europeans.

I think that we are probably in a pretty similar state of affairs, and France is slightly worse than both. About 5.5% of your population is Muslim compared to 4.8% of ours, but lots of yours are Turkish (slightly better?) whereas ours are Pakistani and Bangladeshi primarily.
