44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks [a]a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of [b]lies.

I'm reading this at the moment. Only about 1/3 of the way through but it is QUITE interesting. It goes in a little detail about the Chrsitianization of the Roman empire as well as comparing it to the attempts to do the same to India, China and Japan. The focus of course is on the evangelizing of the Germanic peoples but I haven't really gotten into the meat of that yet.

There's some interesting parts though about Jesus being a warrior chief and his 12 disciples were thanes as an example to the Saxons.

Any chart that recommends reading Kant or Hegel is bullshit. You absolutely cannot just jump into Kant or Hegel without prior knowledge of them from second-hand sources such as secondary books or classes.

They are notoriously hard to understand because their writing style was so difficult. It's a litmus test for bullshit charts like these that just throw around entry-level books without regard for the people who might actually read the stuff they recommend.

CoC is really good and doesn't require background to understand so I'd say go for it. I mean it's really good, though. There was a lot of material there that blew my mind. Animal Farm is an outdated satire on the Soviet Union. It's more of a relic than anything. Plato is a Jew and I haven't gotten too much into Aristotle to speak with much confidence but he seems at least readable. Check out E. Michael Jones or Antony Sutton. They have really good quality history material.

If you wanna understand where our future could possibly be headed, read Brave New World by Adolus Huxley, not 1984 or Animal Farm. It touches on materialism, worship of the state, drugs, break down of the family system, brainwashing, promiscuity, genetic class systems, state owned children. It depicts a dystopian future, of meaningless pleasures, where everyone thinks they're in a utopia. They are ditracted by frivolities and media.

Read the bible with these questions in mind:

1. What exactly did eve and the serpent do? What exactly did she "eat"? What knowledge did she gain that made her feel shame at her nakedness?

2. Who is cains father? Why did God reject cain?

3. How many times was the phrase "after its kind?" Repeated? Is that an accident?

4. When it says Noah was "perfect in his generations". What does that mean?

5. Why was esau rejected? What did he do that made him unsuitable to inherit?

6. Where did cains wife come from? And if it was just him and his wife how did he construct an entire city?

These are good questions that if given even a brief thought will lead to the truth. That the bible is 100% true. You've just been blinded to what is being said.

>>
>>133519815
The Bible is a book created by a group of religious people taking traditions and ideas from the Hindus, Egyptians, Persians, Babylonians, etc. to create their own mythic history and ideology. It became a propaganda tool much later on.
>>
>>133550750

>What exactly did eve and the serpent do?

The serpent said: Didn’t God tell you not to eat from every tree?
Eve said: God said we could eat the fruit from all the trees except the one tree over in the midst of the garden. He said we could not eat or touch that that fruit or we’d die.
Serpent said: You won’t die for real. God is just saying that because if you do eat it you will know good from evil and will be like gods.

Then Eve looked at the tree and saw that it was nice and so were the fruit. She thought this fruit would make her wise. She ate and gave to her husband and he ate as well.

>What exactly did she "eat"? What knowledge did she gain that made her feel shame at her nakedness?

She ate a fruit. She gained the knowledge of good and evil, which apparently made them ashamed of their nakedness.

>Who is Cain’s father?

Adam

>Why did God reject Cain?

Because Cain brought fruit as an offering to God.

>How many times was the phrase "after its kind?" Repeated? Is that an accident?

Five times in Genesis. No it isn’t.

> When it says Noah was "perfect in his generations". What does that mean?

Apparently it means he is racially pure, although another interpretation says he was spiritually mature.

> Why was Esau rejected? What did he do that made him unsuitable to inherit?

Esau was rejected by Abraham because Esau sold his birthright to Jacob. Also Jacob tricked his dad into giving him the blessing over Esau.

> Where did Cain’s wife come from? And if it was just him and his wife how did he construct an entire city?

Apparently she was a daughter from Adam. Apparently he constructed an entire city either from his kids or his kids and siblings.

>These are good questions that if given even a brief thought will lead to the truth. That the bible is 100% true. You've just been blinded to what is being said.

You have to let the book get the best of your imagination, let the words intrigue you, otherwise you're reading a topic you're not interested in nor is it benefiting you which is rarely the case.
Although I'm shamed to admit but when reading on Mathematics or economical theories it can be a drag really, so I start up ASMR videos of cute girls brushing or whatever on my other monitor and read PDF's on my main.
Just know you're collecting all the knowledge that will put you intellectually miles ahead of people and then it'll feel like an achievement and push you to read even more. And also you have to live with the principle of finishing something you begin, whatever it is finish it cover to cover and see what comes out of it.

Kant took a wrong turn from Aquinas's assumption of trusting the information we get from our senses -- he basically put philosophy on a fundamentally wrong track from which it has arguably never recovered.

Chesterton addresses this in his book on Aquinas, The Dumb Ox.

I read Sapiens and it was ok. It got pretty tiring during the middle of the book when the author constantly blamed how awful humans were. Not to mention he was very condescending to religion.

Also one of his main arguments was that the agricultural revolution was a mistake, and he acted like life before that was so great and had no problems.

Its like half history/anthropology (which was good), and half of his shitty opinions (which was a meme).

I'm reading it now and it's fascinating.
He is currently talking about his life suffering penniless and alone in Vienna after his parents died.

He speaks of how his political view was shaped and molded by his interactions with his fellow man. He talks about the fate of the laborer in a large city is to eventually fall into a life of anger and suffering due to various factors. In one part he is working at a job and all his coworkers are Marxist and they threaten to throw him off the roof because he argues against them.

I think it's fascinating as I said. Probably best for young men, like myself, helped me to see how such a great man was shaped by his experiences and what I should draw from my own.

This is the list of books my /pol/ discord reading club has gone through

>Propaganda by Edward Bernay

Here you learn the sad truth of man and it is that the masses will always be the masses. You will never wake them up, only guide them with a good hand, while the enemy guides them with a bad hand. Even then you must both more or less use the exact same tactics of propaganda. It's the end goal that matters. Also watch Century of the Self on youtube when reading.

>Animal Farm

We read this after Propaganda because we felt it gave it a new perspective. Animal Farm is a great study of power consolidation and the methods that have been and will always be used in history.

Again, this book may have been written as a warning for future generations about the corruption of the Soviets, in reality it's an instruction manual just like The Prince. However, it's up to you to use the methods for a good cause rather than a bad one.

Oh, and another redpill in it is that you can't have co-leaders at any point.

>Art of War

This was a prelude to The Prince

>The Prince

Must read for everyone. It is an intro to realpolitik and explains the higher you get into a position of power, the less morals are black and white. What matters more is the end you get, not the means of getting there. Like Machiavelli said, a good prince must learn to be bad. There's also a lot of great things that get revisited in 48 Laws of Power like reputation.

>48 Laws of Power

This book will help you understand history and know how to use your hand when your hand is imbued with great power. The Prince and Art of War are referenced multiple times. Adds perspective to Animal Farm and Propaganda.

>How to Win Friends and Influence People

Yes it involves manipulation, but I'd say it makes you a better person and enjoy being a good person. Look at like this- there's the parts of life where you can't be moral, but for the rest, this is the book you need.

>Rules for Radicals

We're currently on this book.

>the prince is satire

Anyone who has ever said this to me has never actually read it and is just repeating it because it's a form of virtue signaling due to the book's controversial nature.

More realistically, the book was a warning to the masses about the real nature of politics that they don't see. However, the masses are dumb when unorganized and unspecialized, so that is a dumb move to make.

You can drop The Prince by Machiavelli. Although he's become famous for (trying to be) some kind of mastermind, it's really just fantasies and speculation, sweeping generalizations that are completely useless to you. You should much rather read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

Protocols of the Elders of Zion - this reads like an 8th grader comic book villain manual, like a cackling villain deliberately created to shock. You might not get a lot out of it.

You can probably stop reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra once you grasp the central idea of Nietszche - that you should create your own values. It's very much like Atlas Shrugged in that sense - they have extremely valuable and useful points, but once you get what the author is saying, the rest of the book is pretty much just more of the same.

>>
>>133576105
Thus Spake Zarathustra. Skip all the introduction and commentary. Pick a translation (there's several) where the archaic / formal speech on the first few pages is actually readable to you - some of the translations go far too much into the formal languages to conveniently read.

The Lucifer Principle, by Howard Bloom. Basically a justification (biological/psychosocial) for ethnonationalism, even if the author didn't intend it.

From the wiki:
>The Lucifer Principle, a book by Howard Bloom, sees social groups, not individuals, as the primary "unit of selection" on genes and human psychological development. It states that both competition between groups and competition between individuals shape the evolution of the genome. The Lucifer Principle "explores the intricate relationships among genetics, human behavior, and culture" and argues that "evil is a by-product of nature's strategies for creation and that it is woven into our most basic biological fabric".[1] It sees selection (i.e. through violent competition) as central to the creation of the 'superorganism'[2] of society. It also focuses on competition between individuals for position in the 'pecking order' and competition between groups for standing in pecking orders of groups. The Lucifer Principle shows how ideas are vital in creating cohesion and cooperation in these pecking order battles. Says The Lucifer Principle: "Superorganism, ideas and the pecking order...these are the primary forces behind much of human creativity and earthly good."

That's not a "redpill", it's a silly generalization. Fortune DISFAVORS the bold all the time. People sell all their belongings and travel to another country to find work, but find none and end up on the street, or they leech off the welfare apparatus. Going on adventures has good arguments for it, but this false binary is stupid. Plenty of people spend many years taking few risks and lots of time indoors studying, then become doctors or engineers making a shitload of money which they spend on hookers and drugs.

my copy of the first volume just arrived in the mail today.
>When we count up the millions of those who perished in the camps, we forget to multiply them by two, by three.
I've never considered that before - just awful. I'm also noticing from the paragraph just above it:
>Every reasonable man will now agree that the NKVD could never have carried out its great assignment if they had fussed about with open trials.
We have Human Rights Commissions in our country, and they are closed to public scrutiny, are not conducted by trained judges or lawyers, and are free to suspend normal jurisprudential procedures. And they are surely staffed by "ideologically pure" dogmatic activists who believe they have found the true path to the true and good for our society.

Also, what actually happened when this was tried in reality, was that all the local men who had been "recruited" in place of mercenaries ran away in fear once the enemy appeared. It was a complete meltdown of theory. Machiavelli was a worthless armchair theorist and I have no idea why he's so widely lauded. He's basically a one-meme philosopher, "it's better to be feared than to be loved", because it supports our spooky attraction to dark and controlling personalities.

Whoever made that list is a complete and utter retard, harming those he's claiming to help.

This because those he's claiming to help will be people who are seeking to broaden their horizons and understand new perspectives. However, the list he's made is completely unrealistic to get through. Like, Das Kapital alone is 1152 pages. Many of the others are around 500 pages.

Saying: "Oh, you want to learn? I have the best advice for you: read all of these 10,000 pages!" is completely retarded because nobody is going to do it.
