ABC theory posits that individuals and institutions will become saturated with debt, at which point they will stop borrowing and stop spending. This is supposed to cause a snowball of layoffs and a recession. This has not happened and there are no signs that it will happen. Banks are much better at limiting the quality and quantity of credit since 2008.
