It's a tiny party mirroring European Christian Democrat politics. Basically democrats except anti-war and against abortions and gay marriage. The party is pro-amnesty for illegals which kinda sucks but otherwise it's pretty nice. We'll probably never get any real power but that doesn't bother me too much.

No. The democrats will never compromise on social issues, it's too important to their voter base. Similarly the Republicans are far too politically invested in opposition to welfare to consider abandoning that position. It's much better in my opinion to try to carve out a niche among liberal Catholics and similar groups than stay a permanently irrelevant member of a big, corrupt nationwide coalition.
