Since 1973 the EU has given us much of the money we needed to develop as a modern economy. It gave us trading opportunities that reached beyond our previously dominant partner, Britain. It forced us to abandon protectionism and to embrace competition. It made us more attractive as a location for foreign investment and allowed for better-paid employment. Its institutions forced us to change many of our Church-dominated social laws. Without the EU we would still be eating potatoes. I urge you not to fall prey to Eurosceptic propaganda.

Same here. I like the EU, gave us lots of opportunities. It's not perfect, but nothing is.
We probably never be 1st world, that boat has sailed, western countries will never allow us access to their markets or any deals that would benefit us not them. But we'll have some good infrastructure, lots of foreign investment etc..
