Thread for discussing Brazilian politics.

Happening right now:
>Lula convicted
>Parliament analyses charges against the president Michel Temer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws-dJ2HsQJI
>>
2018 will be Dória vs Marina kek
>>
>>133402594
I'll only believe it when he is actually in jail.
>>
>>133403525
Doria vs Bolsonaro
I'm going to vote Doria all the way
>>
Temer will not be convicted desu.
>>
>>133403698
>>133403525
All of them will be arrested.
>>
>>133403827
Top kek, is that the master plan to bring back the monarchy? Arrest all the presidents that are in power until nobody wants to be one?
>>
>>133403525
>>133403698
Doria already said he has no interest in running. Alckmin will probably be the tucano candidate.
>>
>>133403698
that's kinda shit. I like em both, but the biggest problem I have with it is that I think it will split the votes between "far right extremist" and libertarian bros.
>>
>>133404433
lmao and you believed it
>>
>>133404433
Unless Alkmin begins to do better in the polls, they'll push Doria to do it. It's inevitable.
>>
>>133404565
He'll honor the mayoral term given to him by the people of São Paulo.

Besides, Alckmin helped him in 2016, so he'll help Alckmin in 2018.
>>
>>133404278
>is that the master plan to bring back the monarchy?
I wish

>Arrest all the presidents that are in power until nobody wants to be one?
None of them are former presidents but Lula. Marina, Dória, Bolsonaro and Ciro Gomes are just the probable names we'll see winning in the next presidential elections, for now.
>>
>>133404825
>Alckmin helped him in 2016

m8 seriously, Dória is 10 times more popular than Alckmin, he won the city government by his own merit when he destroyed everyone else during the debates.
>>
>>133402594
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
>>133403698
Doria doesn't want to run and he's a leftard and corrupt
>>
>>133406316
Not him but the point isn't that he's more popular, everyone knows that. It's that he has repeatedly said he wouldn't run so if he backpedaled on his own word he would lose credibility. The party will probably put a lot of pressure on him to do it but If any other PSDB guy comes close to his numbers, he won't be the tucano candidate.
>>
>>133406650
>not him
Oh, right. I forgot that /pol/ has an ID tracker.

>there are people in this thread RIGHT NOW that think Dória is a right-wing candidate

He's a left-leaning centrist AT BEST. The only thing close to a right-wing candidate that we have right now is Bolsonaro, and even he is kinda centrist too.
>>
2nd plebicite when?
>>
well, time to vote for PCO candidates :^)
>>
>>133406650
he didn't categorically say he won't do it, he just diverted saying it's not in his plans, that he's focused on the mayor job, etc., but in some interviews (particularly one a few weeks ago when he was in New York) he suggests that if the situation calls for it, he'll be candidate.
>>
>>133407100
When was the first one?
>>
>>133406902
It depends on your political compass. I would actually agree with you that he's left leaning, in the traditional sense: he's a liberal with a progressive social leaning. But socialists have conditioned people to believe that liberal = right and lolbertarians have embraced that notion.
>>
>>133406902
Dória has the right mentality in regards to criminals and the penal system. That's good enough for me.

My father used to work on the Presidential Guard HQ of the Army, his friends there are saying they are on standby for the night because of the news. But to be fair, they have been on standby at least once a month for the past 3 years, and have actually been used by both Dilma and Temer recently.
>>

It doesn't matter. His opponents won't get off his dick because of it, and will attempt to tarnish his reputation. It could even be damaging to him in the long run. If you actually want him to be president one day, you shoudn't want him to be a candidate this time around. He's young, why not wait 5 more years?

These are words heard from a latin american socialist, while he farts and babbles incoherently after another of their attempts to control the continent fails spetacularly, mostly due to their own incompetence and laziness. It is often heard after one of their failed populist governments finally collapses under the weight of its own stupidity.
>>
>>133409187
You have to look north to see why the latin american "socialist/popular" movement is failing.
And also and even more importantly the traitors inside our own countries. Without does this couldn't be done.
Have no doubt that this right is going to fail AGAIN, killing and leaving millions more in poverty.

>You have to look north to see why the latin american "socialist/popular" movement is failing.
If you looked a little bit more inwards instead of always pissing your pants while blaming everything that goes wrong in your governments on the big evil american boogeyman, maybe socialism wouldn't be such a joke in this continent.
>killing and leaving millions more in poverty.
You mean like Chavez and Maduro did in Venezuela? You mean after pretty much the entire continent flipped to the left in a land with more than enough resources to keep itself together, yet you still manage to install the biggest crysis we've ever fucking had in a century? Your movement failed because it was run by failures, who only care about cultural-political wars but couln't run a fruitstand, let alone a country's economy. Have some pride.
>>
>>133410225
The border between both countries is at the state of Roraima, which is basically a distant and foreign land for most of Brazil.

>Didn't the police force of some city quit for a bit?
You're talking about the police force of the state of Espirito Santo going on strike, I suppose. But actually that's not an uncommon thing, police in here are underpaid and underprepared, so they occasionally go on strikes and the cities turn into real life GTA. I was actually on one city (Fortaleza) when the police declared a strike once, it was madness, the army was running around with tanks trying to keep the criminals of the streets, who on the other hand were running wild with huge guns on the back of trucks and bikes, it was insane. Another time, in another state (Bahia), the police of the entire state entered a week-long strike. I'm on college here and my college cancelled classes for the entire week, I had to leave the state until my classes returned.
>>
>>133409888
>poorfags are the ones that fight popular governments against their own interests
Poorfags are not even smart enough to do that. They just vote for the populist cunt who sprinkles them with the most amount of benefits, and when the conomy collapses maybe they consider changing their mind, hesitantly.

The people who vote against their own interests are the retarded overeducated middle-class champagne socialists, who follow their retarded ideology and vote for the very same people who will enslave them to sustain our idiotic idea of democratic-populism in this country, which involves putting all resources in the army and the loyalist portion of the population while the middle-class bleeds, leaves en-mass and the country slowly burns itself into the ground.

That's a tricky question. Ficha Limpa Act says people can't be elected only if convicted by a court of appeals (TRF).

On the other hand, STF has decided that defendants in criminal cases can't be in the presidential line of succession. If that's the case, Lula can't be elected, as he was actually convicted of a crime.

STF will probably have to decide this, should Lula try to register his campaign.

White Europeans stopped wanting to come here, plus Vargas's populism made whitening not be as focused on.

It contributed to the way the South is significantly whiter, on average, than the North. On the other hand, plenty of those were scum of their society and brought with them ideas like communism and shit. It also let a lot of Jews in because they were considered "white".

Yeah, of course Nordeste always vote for leftists, but it's probably because of gibsmedats. I mean, there aren't that much genuinely leftist politicians from Nordeste. Even Lula is more paulista than nordestino.

RS on the other hand seems to be left-wing central, with Prestes, Goulart, Brizola, Dilma, Genro, Maria do Rosario, etc.
>>
>>133414716
>there'll probably be a civil war here where I live
There aren't enough people out there who at the same time support Lula and PT AND have the balls to actually take up arms and risk getting killed. Come on, most of pro-Lula people are either old commies or pothead university student degenerates. The only people that scare me, violence wise, are the ones that MST and the unions can bring to the table. But that's not really that much people.
>>
>>133433627
People in the Northeast aren't ideological leftists. They probably care more about their church than gibs, so I expect to see Bolsonaro doing very well there (much more than anyone from the PSDB).

Now, if someone in the south does vote for the left, they are probably ideological leftists.

Northeasterners are as conservative as it gets, specially when it comes to the smaller inner-state municipalities, since in those places the Roman Catholic influence really ingrained itself. Any kind of degeneracy is extremely reprehended in all circles of life - being a LGBTQ is considered the ultimate disgrace, for instance.

Big cities such as Salvador and Recife are an entirely different business, of course. Liberalism runs rampant but it hasn't stopped enclaves of conservatism to still maintain themselves in current times.
