>>
>>133369117
This faggot on the other hand, has no excuse. A monopoly cannot exist in a free market unless they provide a service that literally nobody else can provide as effectively, in which case what exactly is the fucking problem?

I guarantee that the "monopolies" you're thinking of historically that are still around have had the government step in to bail them out whenever they're about to fuck up and collapse. That isn't the free market, that's corporate welfare.

I disagree with net neutrality on principal but i do support it in a pragmatic sense, given that govt. fuckery in the name of free markets is still government fuckery
>>
>>133368517
I'm not afraid of the fre marker, just oligopolistic comeptition. If the ISP market was actually free, then providers would naturally compete into an open internet. With few providers, they implicitly collude to increase profit. The costs asaociated witu new entry is so high, its illegal in some areas, ensuring the mega-ISPs station is secure.

Crony capitalism isn't a free market you useless faggot take an economics course sometime.
>>
>>133369261
Net neutrality is only ever a concern if internet providers are a monopoly in a large area AND said providers are able to bully websites into paying to avoid throttling.

Any appreciable competition in the larger market makes it unnecessary. You don't even need competition in every locality, just enough competition that the monopolized localities have access to the same service as competitive localities.

>>
>>133369276

they can though. In a free market, someone will eventually come out on top. Now this someone will be able to sell some services at a loss and some with profit. Because of this, the someone will be preferred by people because of their cheaper prices/ better services. This means that they will eventually have a monopoly over that particular service, which in this particular scenario is the internet

>mfw you'll have no outlet to vent your angsty meme economics after 4chan gets shut down so you'll sperg out and shoot up a supermarket because people laughed at you for suggesting that the market was monopolizing the tendies and cheetos

Hey retard, what do you propose as an alternative, then? So in this scenario, how exactly is it their fault that no other worthy competitors have come along to offer a better service? What, should the government step in and run it all themselves? Have fun with that bureaucratic nightmare, literally every single government service is absolute shit because when a government holds a true monopoly on a given service, they have absolutely zero incentive to improve. They're the only game in town, and nobody else can even try to take over and do better.

Sorry buddy, I have actually studied these things at major universities. AnCap is a nonsense ideology based on economic superstition. The EU's anti monopoly and anti cartel laws have worked, benefiting consumers enormously. Perfect competition does not exist, and most industries only have 6 or 7 key players. The govt needs to stop collusion, though granted the free rider problem disincentives collusion most of the time.

Building a monopoly in the first place is difficult as fuck assuming you aren't borrowing money from the government and having them come to the rescue whenever things look bad. Maintaining it is even worse, because you have to hope that the shit-tons of cash you've invested in all of the competition you've managed to buy out will have been worth it, which is rarely is, because absolutely nothing is stopping someone else from coming along with an alternative and siphoning away your business in the hopes of toppling your monopoly. There is no such thing as "too big to fail" in a truly free market system. All it takes is one single person with an appealing idea on how to serve the same market as you for it to all come crumbling down.

>using the EU as a positive example for anything

The EU fucks them in the ass regularly and censors absolutely everything because, surprise, that's what the government will do if they have control over how you access the internet.

"Net neutrality" like so many other government programs is just a pleasant word meant to disguise the fact that it's a plan for governments to fuck you in the ass instead of companies. And despite never having the sort of net neutrality you propose, companies have yet to fuck us in the ass. Why? Because they know they'd lose business if they throttled controversial yet undeniably popular sites like 4chan or Plebbit.

The government doesn't care about making their citizens happy because you'll pay taxes or go to jail anyway.

Yes, and if he had even read the Austrian, Schumpeter, he would know that most firms have monopolies some of the time. If a shop opens after 11pm and all others are closed it is a monopoly in the night time. It doesnt raise prices, it uses the monopoly to increase sales.. In rural communities there is often only a single toolshop or at least very limited competition. AnCaps live in a fantasy world, monopolies are ubiquitous in capitalism, and are in many ways the cause of capitalism's success. Monopolies are also very hard to maintain and are unstable, but anti-cartel laws do not stop firms from occasionally becoming monopolies (like my shop example), they prevent inefficient collusion, restrictions to entry, and price rises.
>>

Do you know why Steam is this way? Because its competition, for the most part, is fucking shit, and Valve knows what the fuck they're doing and people love them for it, for the most part. But I guess it must be absolute HELL to be FORCED to use a service with regularly-occuring 75%+ off sales on its goods.

>Regulations changed forcing the monopolies to allow budget carriers to use their cell towers

You live in a fantasy land.

There are no "budget" carriers. They just offer shittier service for less money.

Cell plans keep going up in cost and carriers like T-Mobile stopped subsidizing phones while also raising prices and yet retards actually think this is a good deal.

Competition in the cell phone market has been horrible for society since most of your money goes to paying for shitty advertising and interest on the massive debts these companies have instead of on actual service.

Cell phone voice quality and reliability has always been worse than landline and actually keeps getting worse over time even though digital technology has radically improved in the past 20 years.

Not a monopoly (?) as Steam is a unique platform. There are many other sitesthat sell games, but Steam has good costumer service and hasn't given any reasons for users to abandon its platform yet or similar platforms to rise up.

It is a fantastic service with unlimited talk, text and data for $45. And by unlimited data, I mean truly unlimited 4G data with no throttling or any schemes, plus 8 Gigs of Hotspot included for any other wifi device.

Fuck you for your bullshit disinformation about "shitty service". Whatever helps you losers cope with your $200 contract with asshole scam companies like (((Verizon))) for even less services though.

I will defend the shit out of Boost Mobile. Ive had them for years and have no plans of dropping them, they are fucking awesome.

As they should have, and as it should be. Twenty years from now I highly doubt the ISP landscape we're used to will look the same. On a similar note, remember when Myspace had the burgeoning social media market cornered and was an unstoppable behemoth?

No, it means you have less access to the internet moron. Liberals only use their bubble social media websites which will all be part of the basic package.

What the fuck is wong in your head that you think those websites will be limited? They have the money to make sure everyone can access them. They will always be available.

No, it doesn't. It is the exact opposite of that.
>>
>>133375815
I can pay for it. Liberals always want everything for free so they won't have access to their typical websites. In addition, it will finally remove all the ShareBlue shills from here. Liberals don't deserve expressing their wrong opinions publically anyway.

Why would someone who is rich and can afford internet access on the current ISP kickstart a free one?

I suggest you erase the "capitalist" part of your flag.
>>
FROM ANON IN OTHER THREAD:

>If you somehow do not know what net neutrality is, it's the legislation that keeps your ISP from charging the use of or just outright banning websites from your access.

Blatantly untrue. Net neutrality is the principle that ISPs should treat all data equally on their lines regardless of its source or destination. Whether it's a youtube video, a video game, a website, etc.

The reason ISPs want it isn't because they want to Jew out consumers, it's because they want to Jew out businesses. Certain highly popular websites like Netflix and Youtube, Amazon and Google, consume vast amounts of data indiscriminately, shitting up the lines of many ISPs with literally petabytes of data. Is it wrong for a private business to want to charge those companies more, because as it stands they pay just as much to comcast as any other person.

>but the ISPs are going to lock everybody's websites down into hundreds of packages and throttle everything
This is really a false reality being pushed onto you by supporters of net neutrality. As it stands, the internet is not under title II and many misguided liberals and corporate shills would hve you believe that putting the internet under government regulation is the only way for this to not occur. But until 2015 there were no rules against net neutrality, and there was not this fragmented internet. That is a dystopian fiction made up by (((Google))) (((Amazon))) and (((Facebook)))

Do you know what throttling is? It would merely slow down the load times of 4chan.

>throttle 4chan
>piss off millions of people
>somehow good for business
>somehow won't fuck you over
>ISP #143 offers 4chan unthrottled
>ISP #143 becomes the holy grail among 4chan and earns millions of subscribers
>the people throttling 4chan get destroyed by weaponized autism

Why do you think gas prices are all the same in your city, because if one asshole jacks the price up $0.20 it'll piss EVERYONE off, no one will buy gas from them, and it'll affect their business in a 100 other ways.

Net Neutrality FAQ:
>1. Who supports NN?
Reddit, (((4chan mod team))), Google, Facebook, Netflix, Amazon, Twitter, Snapchat, AirBnb, Spotify, etc. Notice how all of these groups are leftist.

>2. Will anti-NN legislation "bundle" the internet?
No, this is a commonly repeated Jewish lie like "communism works". If a company "bundles" the internet, another one will not bundle and get all the customers, just as the free market intended.

>3. Are they going to block/restrict/slow down 4chan?
No. They have the technology and legal basis to do this right now, but they aren't doing it. Anti-NN legislation won't change a thing. This is just another Jewish fiction design to cause panic.

>4. We need to fight for NN or the internet will go into the hands of the evil corporations and Republicans! Keep the internet free and independent!
Obama already gave control of the internet to the United Nations in 2016. This is still in effect.
>>
>>133379459
>If a company "bundles" the internet, another one will not bundle

Ahh, you mean like how if a company sets limits one wont. Or like all those cable companies that give you free HBO,2,3,4 Ohh ohhh, Yeah, they all do the same thing dont they. Its most like theres only 5 ISPs to choose from or less and they dont give a shit about you.
>>
>>133373911
Ad hominem isn't a valid argument.
>>
>>133369117
The reason ISP monopolies exist is because it's damn near illegal to attempt to set up an ISP without a mountain of licenses and a bigger mountain of cash. It's government created monopolies. While I agree there should be equal access (As there is now, at least), the problem lies with the laws that choke out any competition, rather than the market ending up that way.

Internet in America is roughly $75 a month for copper cable.

The known cost for every mile of fiber optic cable is $52,000
US is 3.2 Million square miles.
47% of that is COMPLETELY UNINHABITED.

About 80% of american homes have internet.
There are 125.82 million homes in America.

Cost to lay 1 mile of fiber down every square mile of inhabited land in the US would be about $5 TRILLION.

There are many fine arguments from the Ancap perspective, but these aren't convincing to a NatSoc.
I argue that if you're a NatSoc, you should also oppose Net Neutrality, but in favor of NATIONALIZING the ISPs.

The corporate welfarist middle ground is what's dangerous.

>>133379459
>Notice how all of these groups are leftist.
It makes me sad how otherwise redpilled anons haven't broken the conditioning on this issue.

Net Neutrality is blatant fearmongering by corporate welfarists who want to solidify their monopolies. This media campaign is right out of (((Barnays's))) playbook. I personally know an independent ISP who was driven out of business by government meddling. If it's passed, it will artificially raise your monthly bill. Without wholesaling, you destroy economies of scale, which hurts everyone.

You can't legislate your way out of being jewed because the jews are the ones drafting the legislation and determining the tone of the public conversation.
