The non-meme answer involves the school systems there. California has the largest university system in the Nation and the world. CSU, the public non-research school university system has something like 26 campuses all over the state. The UC system, the public research schools of California, which is the most well funded university in the world, has 9 campuses.

In the 60's when cultural marxism was really kicking off, there was a lot of soviet communist funding and infiltration into the university systems. The Bay Area, where Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco lie in, has a lot of the big universities, such as UC berkeley, UCSF, Stanford, UCDavis and UCSanta Cruz and so on. This made the area a natural place for the counter culture of the 60's, which was cultural marxist in nature, to be centered in.

The gay movement and high rate of immigration in the area also effected these things, as it destroyed the natural community defenses against a lot of the poz cultural marxism brought in.

Now the tech industry, also located in the SF bay area, because of the same universities that gave us the poz, also gave us a great small little geographical area for the tech industry to spawn. Now because of the proximity to poz tech is now of that poz culture and is another vector for cultural marxism to spread.

It all comes down to schools and how they were centers of soviet and jewish subversion while also allowing for high economic output because of technology innovation all in a small geographic area with temperatures that never fall below 10c or above 35c.
