Here I will recommend for you three different forms of the bible, if you wish to experience it!

Here is an audiobook, its actually a collection of CD's which come in their own case. I bought this because I've been driving alot for work, and I've enjoyed it greatly. Its a little pricey (~$30) but worth it if you spend time on the road. Also, I'll add that Im not affiliated with, or receiving money from any of these links:

Alternatively if you would like an affordable hard copy, I've been quite pleased with this one thats cheap (~$9!) on Amazon. Its the NIV bible edition, so its written in modern english - unlike the KJV which is like reading shakespere. I feel that the KJV is best for in depth study, but the NIV is MUCH easier to comprehend if you're reading it for the first time:

This is a verse of the bible that I studied somewhat (for what that is worth) and I feel like a man really has to read between the lines here.

I personally believe this applies only to a godly government. I speak for myself and no one else saying this - but... You see the governments of the world, brutalizing and often massacring their citizens. Spying on them. Doing little/nothing to protect them from "Evil-Doers" while stealing from them. Harassing them, and dictating every faucet of their lives. Operating as corruptly as possible. Committing abortion and providing same-sex marriage.

Is this a godly government?

Was this installed by god?

I think not.

And I think that no one owes them a thing. I dont advocate running around killing people and stealing things and whatnot, but... IMHO a government only has any sort of legitimate authority from above if it acts in a godly fashion. And those that dont... The people behind them will be judged EXTREMELY harshly, as the imposters and the frauds and the burdens that they are.

These are just my thoughts, not anything I'm presenting as a sound theory or something to live by. But the first thing you quoted actually seems to agree with what I'm saying...

Regarding the prayer for Caesar, this also goes along with "reading between the lines". Jesus tells us to pray for our enemies. If you lived under a tyrannical ruler, you might pray for him to change his ways, for example. The people reciting this prayer could be asking the lord to guide him, and then for a long rule under Christian terms with him.

The problem with Marrhew 22 is one of the main things which lead to what the conclusion in my last post - as most of us know, when Jesus told his followers to "Render Unto Caesar", he was talking his way out of a trap. (((They))) had come to him trying to have him taken away, so they asked him whether the people should pay their taxes or not, knowing full well that if based Jesus said to pay up, then he would be berated by his own followers, but if he said not to, then (((they))) would arrest him on the spot for telling people not to pay their taxes! So, he simply said to give Caesar what is Caesar's... Leaving all of his followers, and all of us, to try and figure out exactly what belongs to Caesar. Above is what I guessed.

the only times when the church fathers said it was ok to disobey the governing authority is if you were ordered to murder, steal, commit adultery ect. Like the 40 Martyrs of Sebaste, or Tertullian too says disobey when it means worshiping the idol. But this is the exception otherwise render unto Caesar, respect that they enforce Law and Order

I recently watched "The Gospel of John" and likes how they portrayed the complaints the Jews had made to the Romans about Jesus.
I grew up believing that the Romans had been this type of gestapo and simply arrested Jesus because ...well I didn't know I was a kid.

I had a really short dream last night, it felt no more than 5 seconds long. My mind raced through visions of what had been achieved by Christendom and I burst into tears after feeling the light of God. I then said something to myself along the lines of "it must be true". This occurred randomly in the midst of my other dreams. Could this be some sort of sign?

Its tough to say, but many people will at some point go through something similar, I went to a Youth ministry presentation when I was probably in 7th grade, not knowing what to expect, and I felt something like you did. I didnt know what it was, but I remember walking out later thinking "I dont know what that was, but it was real". I feel the same thing, to a lesser extent now, sometimes while praying or in church.

Its pretty great, desu.

I think the lord is reaching out to you. Perhaps you'd consider one of the bible links at the top of this thread, or stopping by church sometime?

Well technically I've been Christian my whole life, but I stopped believing after the natural "I'm too intelligent for this" stage. My family was never very religious and we only attended church on Easter and Christmas. However recently I came to conclusion that there has to be a God. I wanted to believe that the European pagan gods were real but for some reason I could never bring myself to turn my back on Christianity. Recent developments have cemented this feeling.
I've been lurking in a few of these threads and they have been very informative, it's especially interesting how the Bible can be so misinterpreted through poor translation.

A brief introduction to Catholic Sexual Morality:

How do we fix this clusterfuck of a theology

The saddest part is, I think there are a lot of catholic couples who want to follow God's law and want to conform to the Church's teaching, but the theology is so bizarre, incomprehensible, and contradicting that it is nearly impossible to make sense of.

trully beautiful. I do believe that dreams are partially if not totally a divine intervention.
Otherwise why would we have very weird dreams but not so out there that we can't perceive them?

for Instance,I had this dream where I had very rough and passionate sex with my gs's best friend. I didn't even realize I had that crave within me. Since rediscovering Christianity I now look at that dream in a different light.Might it have been God warning me? telling me to be cautious? I would like to think so.
