"All 16 killed."

So this crash seems suspicious. Is there any way we can find out who was on this plane? Where was it going, what its mission was?

/tv/ is thataway, pleb

You probably won;t be able to look that information up for a while so you'll have to turn to social media and do some research there I guess. Ask marines about it.

That said, I don't think this is actually all that uncommon, sadly. Training accident most likely.
>>
>>133227268
I imagine unfounded rumors spread through the Marines like teenage girls.
>>
If it was a V-22 Osprey, those things are crash-prone. And it's part of the risk that goes along with serving in the military. It's dangerous work.
>>
>>133224834
It was a C130 cargo plane transporting ammunition.
It exploded mid air and then spiraled to the ground in pieces.
Something is definitely strange about this.
>>
>>133224834
Course, but this information is probably covered by the army, anyway, maybe this have something to do with "file burning", you never know.
>>
>>133227443

The V-22 is the safest rotary wing in military service. It gets bad press because it's unqiue and new(ish). A blackhawk goes down in the sandpit practically on a weekly basis.
>>
>>133227268
I'm pretty sure AC 13"'s crashing because of its cargo explosioding is not "pretty common".
>>
>>133227443
True too

Nothing happened. It was just a freak accident. Stop concerning yourself with it. I'm sure you have more important things to think about. Why don't you take a break and get some rest. I don't know about you but I could use a nap. Why not get some sleep? It's good for you.
>>
>>133228074
Rumor has it that it was shot down.
>>
>>133224834
BBC said there was a 5 mile trail of debris, which implies to me that it wasn't a simple loss of power but some kind of explosion on board.
Also reported that there were further explosions well after it hit the ground that hampered fire dept from getting too close.

Are AC130 crashes common? Honestly its probably a simple accident but given the proclivity for (((plane crashes))) in taking out certain people it'd be interesting to know who was on board.

they said it waz a refueler. I though kc 135 was only refueler we had but news said kc130 this morning. I flew to germany on a kc 135 was comfy ride.

Why are munitions not deliverable from the plane being transported that way instead of train? It's so much cheaper. Air is not necessary especially if its for domestic readiness

RUMINT Structural failure at 20,000 feet. Speculation is that the #1 or #2 engine either violently failed, or departed the airframe, damaging both flight control surfaces, causing loss of control of the aircraft.
>Andy Jones said he was working on his family's catfish farm just before 4 p.m. when he heard a boom and looked up to see the plane corkscrewing downward with one engine smoking.
"You looked up and you saw the plane twirling around," he said. "It was spinning down."
Jones said the plane hit the ground behind some trees in a soybean field, and by the time he and others reached the crash site, fires were burning too intensely to approach the wreckage. The force of the crash nearly flattened the plane, Jones said.

It's kinda funny to think about the maintenance grunt on the ground, sweating his balls off because there was an extra bolt left over after working on this plane and he was too lazy to find out where it went.

>crashed plane
>no survivors

The fire rises
>>
>>133227268
It is VERY uncommon. Especially on the C130 platform.

>>133228786
C130s can have aerial refueling pods (KC130s). The Marine Corps uses them and there are some in the Air Force IIRC.

>>133228871
Some things are time sensitive or it's really being done for the convenience of training. Loading hazmat/random cargo is good training for the aircrew and it is done while deployed very often.

>>133230647
We'll find out hopefully what exactly happened. My suspicion is that there was some kind of emergency in the plane that caused a fire that then caused an explosion to separate the engine. The idea that an engine just randomly sheared off is pretty unlikely but not impossible. Usually one emergency causes another, much worse emergency.

It's a pretty shitty day in the C130 aircrew community for the Marine Corps. If you know anyone in the military or any job that has some serious risks associated with it remember their lives are on the line. Never push to bend the rules or someone's limitations. Be honest and proactive. People get ripped apart and they often can't put them back together.
>>
>>133230879
I'm not a bettin man, but if I were I'd bet someone packed a pallet if ammunition improperly and something hit something else in just the wrong way to fuck everything up. Could be foul play too, an intentional accident. Need to know who was onboard and what sort of things they were doing before we can hazard any guesses there though.
>>
>>133224834
Thats the question, who was on it. That will tell you what you need to know, chances are.
>>
It was probably an Ospray.

Those things are garbage. Anytime you hear of sixteen marines dying in a crash it's been in a goddamn Ospray.
>>
>>133231705
I think it was an issue with the cargo honestly. Could be anything but the cargo makes a lot more sense than random structural failure (which DOES happen, albeit very rare). This is also an older plane, VMGR-452 still flies the KC130Ts aka legacy C130s.
>>
>>133231848
It was a C130.

I'm happy the implemented LARP flags so we can figure out the retards without actually having to read their posts.
>>
>>133231669
>My suspicion is that there was some kind of emergency in the plane that caused a fire that then caused an explosion to separate the engine.

I would suspect weather/turbulence. A severe side shear can do this.

Was this on ATC trackers? We can overlay weather and see if they had turbies.
>>
>>133232574
Uhh I highly doubt that. I've flown on an overloaded C130 through a storm and the plane doesn't give two fucks. They're built like tanks. Look at the crash and the plane still has some of it's structural integrity with a clear plane outline. That doesn't happen with passenger planes.

It's possible but I wouldn't bet any money on it. If anything like what you're talking about happened it would have been from some sort of structural failure unrelated to weather.
>>
MS Jackson Airport has a military establishment where they park these bad boys. They fly circling all the time near my town.

>I've flown on an overloaded C130 through a storm and the plane doesn't give two fucks.

Being passenger - dumb and unaware doesn't give you much authority of saying "doesn't give two fucks". Limitation of max symmetrical g load is 3 units for 130 which can be reached in severe turbulence.
>>
>>133234227
I'm a loadmaster. Not a passenger.

I know the plane better than your google search. It wasn't the fucking wind. I've experienced EXTREME turbulence on takeoff, landing, and in flight.

You must be referring to the 3g limitation to forward restraining cargo (3gs forward, 2gs aft, 1.5gs lateral). The ammo may have been improperly secured but that wasn't the winds fault. It would have been the loady's fault if it happened.

If the wind blew off an engine it would have been a serious structural issue that was severely neglected during one of the scheduled 60 or 90 day maintenance checkups. And it would have probably been missed multiple times. Either the 452 severely fucked up with their maintenance scheduling or some kind of inflight emergency happened.
>>
>>133234764
>I'm a loadmaster.
....loadmaster is a passenger, you dimwit. Get wings with radiator before spewing shit. Fucking sweaty.

Kc-130 iirc.

Suck my CAC wings. You're just jealous I'm actually on the business end of things.

You're still not being clear about what you're talking about but I know you Oki faggots are already too drunk to make sense of which lady boy's dick you were sucking this morning.

Lemme know when you find out it was too windy for the C130.

>>
>>133224834
Had a premonition about this in an odd way.

I didn't realize it at the time. If I say anymore I'll dox myself.

Here was the trigger.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-stopping-pick-marines-hat-blown-wind-presidents/story?id=48528095

The rumor is that the KC-130 was running supplies to South America where ISIS has fledgling movements - Munitions and personel.
Moar war coming.

The wreckage appears to be upside down and the crash site is about the width of the wingspan. It implies that the aircraft was falling out of the sky in an inverted flat spin. The bodies will probably be found at the forward bulkhead and the aft cargo door. Should be too hard to figure out what happened as there are parts 5 miles from the impact site.

Question two of an accident investigation - what's missing from the crash site.
