No country in the world is prepared for this shit. It'll be The Great Depression all over again. People will be fighting for the remaining jobs, wages will plummet as people will work for scraps.

This is exactly why I don't understand the whole argument for immigration in the West regarding pop replacement.
Sounds like we need 47% less people on the planet just to keep steady employment numbers.
Fuck. Why are people so dumb?

I m a robot , Automation engineer here , sorry lads you are already out of the market
>>
>>133179547

Or maybe...we could use the automation to not have to work, and instead live more fulfilling lives of leisure? Why the fuck is the first question, when it comes to automation "Where will we find more jobs?". Isn't the point of technology that you want to work LESS?
>>
You still need a driver in automated cars and trucks.
You can hijack them by just standing in front of them.
>>
>>133180842
We need to tax robots so they can pay for Every neet that automation will create

The left wants to bring in immigrants precisely because they know that the immigrants will become dependent on welfare programs to survive, and thus will become a sort of captive voting bloc that makes sure the left maintains control of the major cities.

Use your money now to get a higher education. Higher education jobs, while still at risk, are far less at risk than lower skilled labor.

When 10s of millions of people lose their jobs, they'll be coming for yours.

You are an absolute fool if you are falling for this fear mongering. I will never understand you numbskulls who denounce main stream news outlets and then push this kind of bullshit. AI and Automation will not destroy the job market to the point the Great Depression. Yes jobs will be lost but many will open up. If you did not see this coming and take the necessary steps to adapt or if your employer is not helping to set you up to continue your employment after the implementation of automation or AI then the loss of your job is on you alone. All of this is being pushed because they want the people to ask for help and beg for financial support. They want to give you money, they want you to rely on them to survive, they want to dictate your ability to live. Goodness gracious this shit is getting out of hand.

They'll either cut up the deliveries into tiny unmanned efficient automobiles or just set up cross country highways and accessable drop off/pick up points that will still annihilate most need for manned trucks. Then there will be a big push to fix the roads or move businesses because nobody wants to pay for human truckers.

A fleet of small automated shippers is definitely in the cards because humans cost that much.

YES
this
I've been predicting this for over a decade.
nobody understands how drastic of a problem this is going to be for a couple of reasons.
1. 99% of everybody seriously underestimates the power of these "AIs" (it'll probably end up with a catchier term like smart automation, brain automation, or something that sells like 'advanced workplace assistance')
2. those who have a firm grasp on these AIs don't have the vertical real-world workplace experience to understand how profitable and addicting for employers it will be to replace these salary workers with AI

the worlds simply not prepared. this is a TRULY disruptive technology

unfortunately, despite my knowledge of the danger this 'smart automation' will be, I have no clue on how to limit the damage
>>
>>133182596
I'm a dock supervisor at a small location and there's no way we or the other 95% of depots can fully automate to where you can avoid having some asshole in the cab to unload freight navigate in bad weather or tight areas, or even be there to make sure that the high value freight is delivered in cases of software failure or theft. Automated cars won't replace truckers, but they'll make your skill set so irrelevant that (((they))) can replace a $60,000/yr trucker with a minimum wage taco nigger.

Freight costs won't go down either; that's the worst part of the automation scam.
>>
>>133186737
Why limit the damage? Profit from it baby

>>133185942
and the entire country shuts down when winter hits and these trucks either go 10mph or turn into instant jackknife simulators every time they hit a hill under load

and trucks have been increasing in size since their inception, thus why so many places are nightmares to dock at. cutting them up into a dozen cars would be a logistical nightmare and turn every interstate highway into rush hour LA

Many advanced countries will offer minimum basic income to compensate.

America won't be one of them, and will continue to deteriorate as the rich get richer and there is nothing else but the poor.
>>
I can foresee govt. seeking to limit the % of allowable automation.
>>
>>133186944
>and trucks have been increasing in size since their inception, thus why so many places are nightmares to dock at. cutting them up into a dozen cars would be a logistical nightmare and turn every interstate highway into rush hour LA.

The trucks have increased in size so they can move more per trucker paid, it's not as necessary with automation. They can drive all night when the roads are clear and have no trouble taking long side routes. Furthermore your entire inventory is entirely mobile and can be stored easily in a parking and summoned as needed. Yes, some places will need to rethink how they load and unload supplies but handing a couple package cars coming in back to drop off supplies as needed would be easier than handling gigantic trucks backing in.

I dont think truckers will be entirely replaces but there is definitely advantages.
>>
>>133188421
Truckers on long hauls will be entirely replaced until about 2-5mi outside of their docks, then low paid short-haul truckers will handle getting into the cities and docking. Of course, that's only until they refit all the docks for AI usage. (maybe 5 years)

Depends what you're selling. Unless you provide a specially tailored experience most ordering procedures can be accomplished by a web form. Most people don't like dealing with you leeches because of your constant unannounced drop-in visits and unsolicited cold-calls, but they're so desperate for human attention or too old to understand or trust ordering online that they're forced to deal with you. Once boomers retire a lot of you are going to go the way of the catalog.

that's why your job will be taken and my job wont, because I actually have intelligence

If a robot takes my job that means the robot is at least as efficient as I am at producing a desired product/service

Therefore if my job is taken productivity either stays the same or improves. Moreover I am freed up to preform another job if another is open, If no job is open then no productivity is lost.
