Because a giant claymore is really practice in closed spaces. Gladius or Falchion should be the smallest with a Spatha as another reasonable medium-length blade. Basket hilted swords would offer your the same protection as a rapier which is honestly too long in tight spaces. Most retards couldn't wield a broadsword or longsword well enough to even bother. Sabers would be a standard go to with, especially a swiss saber due to the hand protection it offers. Pi related is a swiss saber.

Yes, the law banning people carrying knives over 5.5 inches in length is a relic from the Reconstruction era. It was passed in 1871, almost a century and a half ago. There is absolutely no reason to have it in place when it's legal to carry guns which are multitudes more effective than any sword or big knife.

Its much more than swords. All idea of "illegal blades" has been removed. You can FINALLY carry the legendary Bowie knife. The only stipulation is that any blade over 5 and 1/2 inches is an "area restricted blade", which means that basically the same laws governing carry weapons applies to them. Namely, that you can't carry them in schools, houses of worship, courthouses, etc. Any business that places a sign prohibiting knives must also be respected. Otherwise, you can do whatever the fuck you want with them, just like firearms.

I would prefer there to be no length restrictions at all, but this is a massive improvement over the restrictions before, which banned daggers, Bowie knives, etc, and any blade over 5 and 1/2 inches was strictly prohibited.

Those laws date back almost 150 years. Its insane they were on the books this long.
