My point is that an authoritarian regime wouldn't allow opposition that openly calls for violent revolution to run around. An autocratic government doesn't need to be authoritarian, so long as it has genuine popular support it can ignore dissent instead of suppressing it. Stalin and hitler were dictators, their every word was Law. Putin is far less of a control freak than those fellows. Putin did indid use some authoritarian measures to crush certain types of opposition, like the above mentioned khodorkovsky, but it doesn't make him authoritarian any more than when US jails people in Guantanamo because it views them as a national security threat.
