Just last month I drove from Boise to Coeur d'alene, taking 55 to 95 (ie, NOT the highway).

Did it in a convertible mustang with the top down. It is literally like driving 7 hours through a Bob Ross painting.

Boise is still fine. The only liberal area is the north end and I doubt you're gonna be able to afford living there just out of college. Every other area around it is nice, cheap, and conservative. Nampa's actually getting surprisingly nice.When I was a kid it was basically little Mexico but it's been getting gentrified as fuck. There are some nice neighborhoods you can buy a really decent house for next to nothing. Driving kind of sucks though.

The nice thing about Idaho is that unlike most other states Boise doesn't rule the entire state. Oregon for example is basically Portland and the poor fuckers that have to put up with their shit. Everything East of Bend would probably jump at the chance to break off and join Idaho.

I go hiking a lot in the deserts or the forests above Boise. It's incredible to be out there when it's approaching 100F and sweat is just dripping down and there isn't a single person for miles and miles around. I also ike to take pictures all over too. Got decent internet so of course a bit of gaming and app development in my spare time as well. It's pretty normal in the Treasure Valley desu. Once you get out of Boise-Nampa Metro Area things can be very country, people doing their own thing on farm and range in peace and solitude.

I came from the Oregon Coast, temperate rainforest and all that and it's an amazing place to grow up but I'm not sure I could leave Idaho and the Owyhee Country.

I'm a fled Connecticut native. I've voted red since Bush Sr (yes I'm over 40)

I love shoreline CT in the fall and summer. Small towns, no traffic.

But incredible taxes, especially property tax on homeowners, absolutely insane gun restrictions after Sandy Hook, and well, i don't live there anymore.

Their population is more than 3x ours. The west is also fueling most of their economic growth. All the TVs and phones and useless plastic crap we buy fuels their emissions. All the emissions made what we buy should be added to our emissions pile, not theirs.
