I'll tell ya a little story about how corporate comedy works.
As I said, I do comedy w/ a subversive rightwing libertarian lean part-time. I do industrial construction full-time and am earning close to the 1% doing so. I started comedy on my free time from work 7 years ago and my job takes me all over the nation so I worked various rooms. I would have loved to become "a star" as its imagined by our unpilled friends. One learns quick that thats a degenerate path and those w/ standards don't go down it.
From my stand-up I got offered a "consultant" gig writing on a national TV show that does the news style infotainment.
At first I was a bit reserved to contribute but after a few days and a night out drinking w/ some of the writers I felt more comfortable and encouraged. After trying to give some leverage to the right I quickly learned how things work:
"We didn't hire you because you're right wing. We hired you because we think your funny and quick witted and you write a lot. This isn't about you getting your personal point of veiw through. This job is for you to contribute to what we're making. Your job is to try and make funnier what we come up with whether its leftwing or rightwing in nature."

I was actually very appreciative of the concise message. You could tell it wasn't the first time he gave it. And it was the first time my eyes got really opened to how the business really works. And in those days, I wasn't as far right as I am now.
I gave up my construction gig for 6 months and got paid jack shit while living in an overpriced city to work for that show, to "make it." I wanted out after the first month but learned to be comfortable being a hack. The other writers suffered to but w/ no other options and a bigger investment in the dream of "making it" they got through it with more ease than me and stuck w/ it. Whereas after that experience, I went part-time.
