I currently max out Roth IRAs for myself and my wife, but you should should also consider the value outside gainz. For example, if you are looking at houses with arable land, I'd rather have that as soon as possible (i.e., the ability to grow at least some of my own food) than the extra $5,500 plus returns in retirement, ~40 years down the road, after the government has laid down the inevitable IRA haircut in a futile attempt to remain solvent.
