for a moment in time, the purpose of ctr was to get hillary elected. but it was clear from very early on that it would face backlash and (probably) backfire. so why was it continued, and then rebooted after losing the election? it's because ctr/shareblue is effectively destroying was left of online credibility in a (semi) anonymous setting. ever since election season, anyone stepping out of line with nu-pol approved opinions is immediately labeled a shill. the same thing goes on among the leftists. people assume, by default, that whatever they're reading was written for the sole purpose of manipulation. david brock played you like a fiddle.
