I know how to make guns from scratch so what I'd do is:

0. Currently have the cold (flu), fill a container with my spit, this will come in handy later.

1. Find isolated land (I'm in the Gold Coast, Queensland) already didn't really have petrol-niggers. Head further into the hinterland for fresher running streams and better access to minerals (I know where the mines are already).
