So, originally lounge suits were more flexible, were sturdier, had the ability to fully close (this is what your top lapel button is for), and could be pulled up on the sleeves. Think more akin to the older common jacket. Today now that this standard has dropped, suits are really quite ornamental, and therefore "try-hardish" UNLESS your wealthy, in a field that demands it, or on an occasion that does.

Likewise, since suits have become very ornamental, they've also simultaneously become a bit shoddy across the board. A bespoke made suit can be bought for around $3,000, but most suits seen today cost below $700, and thus are associated with a stigma of "You bought a cheap luxury item." where as older suits were typically the most expensive item a man owned.

You don't actually need to dry clean wool. It's just more effective at removing staining.

The catch 22 is that dry cleaning is also absurdly bad for most fabrics, so you should dry clean your suits as infrequently as possible or they will begin to get "shiny" for a lack of a better term. Think if a suit has a life span of two years before worn every other day, the suit will lose maybe a month of its life every time it's dry cleaned. You should not dry clean a suit more than two times a year.
