When I take my prescription, it just makes me feel awake and motivated to get things done, a feeling I normally can't reproduce on my own because my brain doesn't produce the right balance of neurotransmitters, apparently. I don't think I've ever taken Adderall but I've been on a bunch of other meds since I was about 8.
My parents were against it but were coaxed/bullied until they complied. Sentiments such as "doctors say it's OK so it must be" and a lot of veiled threats ("removing" the child from the home because of "negligence") from people with the education board.
Attempts to stop when I got older triggered unbearable pain and distress that never seemed to let up.
I learned about tapering from the internet and am planning to start soon. I cannot recall doctors ever mentioninh it.
