A quick rundown
Right after the war a lot of political cleansing happened. A lot of pits full of bodies.

At first the isolation seemed to work. It didn't least for very long. 40's 50's rationing and hunger was a common thing.
Nepotism + uber Catholicism = shit

Around the 60's Spain couldn’t keep it going,
Cheese and chocolate from America was given to the kids in school. This was an exchange in which Spain allowed the US to install army bases (plan Marshall)
Franco and their military heads were no politician no technicians = no fucking clue how to rule a country.
A group of technocrats were installed in the government
The tourism was allowed and some $$ started to flow, an agriculture + tourism based economy was implanted. No more hunger for Spain.

Soft dictatorship around the late 60's 70's
Franco dies. The king was meant to continue the dictatorship, he said nay.

Anybody could have created jobs considering the economy was 99% rural. He turned spain into what China is today during a Brief period of time: a cheap place for European companies to manufacture products.
