RIP Republicans
>>
I mean on the economic policy front, far left policies (free health care, free college tuition, stronger social safety net, anti-unilateral trade deals) are all fairly popular. In fact, they're all fairly poplar with the demographics that put Trump over the top in the Electoral College. I would argue that a lot of Dems lost because they're the party of the status quo when the status quo wasn't working for many Americans. Once you realize that, you can easily see how the Dems could retake seats in state and national legislatures. Especially if the GOP starts digging into those programs. You can see that happening now with healthcare, the current GOP bill has abysmal approval ratings and will do nothing good for them electorally if they pass it (though you can argue not passing it would be even worse).

I think we need to remember that Barak Obama won campaigning for strong, universal, social safety net programs. You could argue the Dems downfall was not delivering on that promise.
>>
I think OP was joking but this is a real issue. The GOP has a problem where they're too fragmented to pass anything through Congress despite extremely favorable conditions. If you're a GOP fan, you're upset and uncomfortable by their impotency and that sucks for you.

However, the left literally just fixed their primary elections and got away with it, ultimately playing a major role in Hilary losing the election. There have been no major outreaches by the Democratic party to assure their base that changes have been made to ensure that such fixture will never happen again. They won't even admit the irony in witchhunting the Russian hacking even though they fixed their own election.

What would you rather have? A party that can't decide on a platform to push through or a party that has verifiably fixed past elections and is doing nothing to ensure that it won't happen again?
>>
Democrats need immigration to stay relevant. Both Romney's and Trump's performance with blacks and whites would have led to massive Republican landslides back in the day. But the hispanic votes are counterbalancing that. Unfortunately in that pursuit they are selling out Americans.
>>132901828
I agree with that, the problem is that too many Democratic politicians are far left socially. If you let people keep their guns, promoted enforcing the law on immigrants, etc. then the Democrats would have a really solid chance.

>free health care, free college tuition,

not democrat policies

>anti-unilateral trade deals

Dems are the party of TPP

>Obama won campaigning for strong, universal, social safety net programs

Obama ran on policies like bailing out homeowners who had suffered from the housing collapse. Instead he bailed out wall street and gave them trillions of dollars as a reward for them committing mass securities fraud. Even HW locked up wall street criminals after the S&L crisis, Obama just gave them free money and then permanently tanked the economy with near zero interest rates.

Ever heard of Occupy Wallstreet? Even the left of all people realized how full of shit Obama was, but instead of listening to criticism they were just chased out of politics for being "too white"

Democrats are the party of neoliberal globalism and austerity, as they have always been since the late 1970s.

There's a reason I said "far left" and not "mainline Democratic". Still, they're the party much closer to those policies when compared to the GOP.

>Resist & Persist
5/10: it's defeatist and optimistic at the same time, which is retarded, but is simple and isn't fucking BLUE ON BLUE

>She Persisted, We Resisted
1/10: "She lost, We whined" is what people will read. Mentioning a past candidate who lost should never be used to inspire people to vote. Blue on blue.

>Democrats 2018. I mean, have you seen the other guys?
0/10: Carries no message besides "we are not the other people." The use of "guys" makes the sign either extremely informal or risks alienating men. Blue on Blue. Fucking atrocious.

>Make Congress Blue Again
2/10: It's parodying Trump's slogan, but fails to actually invoke an emotion. "Make America Great Again" reminded every American of a time in their lives where they loved America and felt like they were the best in the world. Patriotism has been mocked and derided since Bush, so it was a breath of fresh air to hear someone sound like they genuinely love their country. All this says is "Let's put us in charge again!" BLUE ON BLUE.

I don't know why they cling to an anti-Trump and pro-identity politics message in these stickers, it clearly didn't work in 2016 or this year's special elections. They should follow the pattern of labour in this year's general election, their slogan "For the many, not the few" was pretty good and centered on a populist theme that could actually resonate with voters. If the Dems have any chance of winning, they should follow bernies economic messages and take a more conservative position on immigration, not like that'll ever happen though.

>Still, they're the party much closer to those policies

No. Dems are the party of increased austerity and corporate domination of the society.

It was Carter that began austerity, major outsourcing, dismantling the unions, cutting infrastructure spending, and the process of deregulating major and ending antitrust action

I at least occasionally hear even the most shill neocons like Michael Savage and Mark Levin at least give lip services to trust busting. Savage especially believes in ending offshore tax havens.

When was the last time you heard that from an NPR goon?

Everytime I listen to NPR it's just endless social justice shilling+ defense of multi national corporations.

I am a Democrat. I pop up in your threads from time to time. I'll tell you exactly how I feel.

I warned people that Hillary Clinton was a war mongering, neo con globalist. I told people she would lose and it would ruin our party. I was rewarded for my efforts with hatred and personal attacks. I was also ostracized by my friends and family.

The DNC has no future. Neither Obama nor Clinton were true Democrats. The party has been hijacked by corporate interests. It's corrupt to the core. As long as we have people like Elizabeth Warre, Maxine Waters, etc we will never recover

The Dems have also embraced every type of perversity and deviance. I have no idea why but they want everyone to be bi sexual or gay

As someone who usually votes GOP, this over confidence from the right now is really concerning. If you truly think the battle has been "won" you are in for a rude awakening. The Dems are playing the long game with demographic chance and increased immigration; Trump may try to have less immigration, but demographic change is already occurring at a rapid rate and the white percentage of the vote will grow less every election.

Okay, are you saying the modern GOP is in favor of unions, infrastructure spending, anti-trust action and strong regulations? I can see your point with trade deals and anti-trust actions but you can't say they champion unions or regulations. Infrastructure is pretty bipartisan in that both parties talk about it and very rarely do it.

In addition, the left is well known for it's support of strong social safety net programs (Medicare, Medicaid, etc) which are also very popular.

Gun laws only effect law abiding citizens. They obey the law.

Criminals do not obey laws.

If you wanted to get guns from criminals to prevent crime, you need to increase police powers.

Dumbass.

Also: Polls have something in common with studies. They are both made to say something false fore money.

A good example is climate change.

It plays nice with their identity politics sacred cow while being something that resonates with the blue collar portion of their voter base that is convinced they're getting a bad deal today, but don't feel the country's values are the cause of the problem.

Okay, but the historical GOP is not the GOP of today. Much like how the Democrats used to be the party of the South but are no longer the party of the South.

>Those are terrible programs though.
Regardless of how terribly you feel those programs are, they are still popular programs. Cutting Medicaid is basically a surefire bet to losing people at the polling booth.

I feel as though we mostly agree on where economic policy should be, and this is just turning into an argument about which party is closer to that ideal. My initial argument is that if Democrats embraced these policies then they would win more elections and that they wouldn't lose voters by embracing them. This was stated as a rebuttal to the OP's argument that the Democrats are a dead party.

Republicans will get annihilated in the coming elections, he won by the smallest of margins and now that a lot of the centrist voters have turned against Trump, it's gonna be another 8 years of Democrats, probably a severe swing.

The left had a shock and they won't let it happen again; the same thing has happened with our recent election, the left woke up after Brexit.

They won't win shit, the only way they get the presidency in 2020 is if they put up a "progressive" who isn't a woman. Not saying the world isn't ready for a female president, just the Democratic party doesn't have a single viable woman candidate who would be good for the job. If Kasich or another centrist Republican mount a third party bid it will end up hurting the Democrats more than Trump if they put up another candidate like Hillary. Democrats never turn out for midterm races so they aren't going to pick up hardly anything in 2018.

Not only did they literally rig an election but they have also attempted to literally undermine "american democracy" by making up lies about russian hackers.
Even if russia had done this, by admitting that they got hacked they are admitting that the emails and their content were real, they also would have to acknowledge that the USA has been doing the exact same things too.
Even if russia had done this, it would make russia a friend of America and literally make trump batman...

Youngs didn't vote, the "Bernie or bust" effect was probably high. She was unbearable by lots of people, then the Wiki trashing. Rest was people sick of the Washington machine, lots of Blacks voting for Obama switched sides. Plus gerrymandering in crucial states, voter suppression and social engineering tactics like radio spots, emails and shit indirectly telling you not to go to vote. Nobody voted for Repub, they voted for Trump who had to high jack the train, the train stations and the conductors, that were already there.

Democrats are still a shit show and have nobody to go on 2020. I believe they will try to set up some hollywood pair, white man with a chocolate colored woman or something, then it might get interesting. Since two or three states now decide the outcome, it will be like a war zone there. Repubs know how to play the system and Trump is a willing idiot they can use to shill out 1-2 trillion to the 0,01%

Some switched sides, but mostly they just didn't turn out for whitey..

The people running the party are just old men and women from a backward establishment.

Sanders and Shillary losing is the last straw. The Dems are in a flux period right now. If Sanders ever runs again in 2020 the party would finally reborn and the establishment shitters shilling for crooked Hillary would finally fuck off, he'll continue where Obama succeeded and fix where Obongo failed (like the current healthcare plan and reigning in the shitty corporations and corporate shills that use loophole to suit their agenda aka like Drumpf for example).

The only reason why Trump won is that Hillary lost. Literally THE WORST POSSIBLE PERSON, THE ONLY PERSON THAT DNC HAD THAT TRUMP WOULD WIN OVER TO RUN AGAINST TRUMP, RAN AGAINST TRUMP.
>>
>>132897585
>>
>>132918249
He can't run, he would be too old. That is the problem of the DNC. Look around in the white house. They constantly find enough fresh young vampires who have no problems playing the devils little demons. The democrat doesn't allow this to happen. They have either the crazies or some side show going on, but the system itself can't be changed or reformed. Trump is holding all the cards, no money and even a sea of CNN/MSNBC crocodile tears will change that.

As Maher said lately, the democrats have no will to fight anymore. They could easily win a bunch of local cities if they wanted, but this would mean work and thats not what pink hat "ladies" would like to do.

There is no question that a libertarian party or any liberty party is the only threat to the NWO/Bankers/Feds/Corporations/whatever you want to call it.
I think there is a huge push from shills and the like to keep regular people from listening to libertarian ideas. So I'd think the majority of the crazy people that show up are controlled opposition.
However, many libertarians actually are crazy...
I think you have to be a little crazy in order to ignore what you are told for 18+ years of your life and disregard it.
Also it attracts weirdos that think the party is about being free to do weird shit, rather than free to do normal shit.
>>
>>132913213

I honestly still can't figure out what happened to the libertarian party

It suddenly became a party of anti guns and no borders

It's basically the Democrats with slightly less emphasis on SJWs

Too bad for the Dems that they don't support any of that. It wouldn't be good for their corporate owners.

When she was first elected, she was kind of exciting because she was a consumer advocate like Ralph Nader or something. Now she's been absorbed into the corrupt DC Democratic Party culture.

Libertarian conferences get literally no pushback. Sometimes they even get corporate funding. Alt-right conferences always have protesters, sometimes violent protestors.

I remember people at my Democratic Caucus in Seattle saying those exact same things about Hillary. I also remember the one response the Hillary side kept coming back to. It was:
>But do you think Bernie Sanders can beat Donald Trump?
Well, we sure saw how your bitch turned out, huh? Lost the states Bernie did the best in, hmmm.

For the record I don't actually agree with most of Bernie, I just knew he was the best shot at the Dems winning and if he won it would influence the Dems to go back to labor and economic policy, where they'll actually have success.

1/8 of his first term is up and literally nothing hasn't changed. nothing isn't set to change soon. election colluding and obama is still the main talking point of both Trump and the media across the country. immigration has been swept under the rug. healthcare has bogged down once again. job market is the same as ever - no significant changes compared to last years of obama. I don't see Trump winning any new votes and he started with a 3m deficit against the 2nd least favorite candidate in history.
