Start here. We intercepted copied and archived a lot of encrypted soviet telegrams between their embassies during the 30's and 40's, and under the pressure of ww2 they finally fucked up and re-used one-time cypher pads so we could figure out what they were doing.
The KGB had over thirty different front groups up and running on U.S. soil during the 30's. About 75% of the operatives had names that echoed.
