Why are so many First World countries afraid of guns?

Search Xs shoots guns for the first time and almost all of them take forever to learn how to hold and fire it, and them are scared and want to put the gun down after the first shot.

It doesn't make sense as like 90% of the world had gun fights and duels on a daily basis before World War II.

But now countries like Ireland, England, Germany, Sweden, France and many many many more, pfff at the thought of guns, don't know how to hold or fire a pistol, and before and after they do it they still claim no one needs them and that they're crazy killing machines.
