Take news from multiple sources with prior knowledge of their biases. For instance see what Foxnews and MSNBC are saying and kind of weed out the opinion based on the differences between the two. Stay away from shit like Infowars and other sites dismissed by the mainstream because they don't get firsthand info, instead drawing of other sites and completely overwhelming the event with opinion.
As for opinion pieces, unironically /pol/ works extremely well, you get a fuck ton of opinions and shit no one has the balls to say anywhere else. The most important part about taking information from /pol/ is to fact check EVERYTHING that doesn't have a source. Although as far as legitimate sites go, differs on opinion but National Review is one I would personally recommend.
