Yorks beautiful but I'm biased because I'm from the North East. I mean there's some really shitty council estates and towns that are just rows and rows of shit redbrick houses here, its poor as shit on average, but avoid those areas and the countryside and villages are amazing, some of the best in the country, the market towns & cities are great, and probably most importantly English culture actually exists there still. York has nice pubs too.
