HOL UP

I just realized this.....people seriously demand 15$/hr to work at fucking mickey dees'? WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK

I make 22$ (22euros) a DAY, working hard manual labor 8-10 FUCKING HOURS A DAY, repairing, fixing and painting houses.

15$/hr is 120$ per day on an 8hr shift.
Working 28 days a month this shit is ALMOST 3,500$ DOLLARS PER MOTH TO WORK AT MC DONALDS

What is going on......? Am I missing something?
Is it actually 15$/day instead of hour?
>>
>>132752138

Greece is poor. Your reward for socialism.

Anyway, minimum wage is a retarded idea. It will cause unemployment and is bad for the economy, con top of infringing on your freedom.
>>
>>132752289
>>132752359
Is the cost of living that much higher over there?
Shit's pretty expensive here I make like 500-600 euros a month (on a good month) and the only luxury I can afford is internet, anything else goes to bills.

If I made 3.500euros a month I would be considered upper-middle class at worst. How much money is your middle class supposed to be making over there?
>>
Its mental illness. the kids are crazy and lazy. bad combo. Hard work? Fuck off. High pay? Obviously. But we will need ample downtime to play on our phones between lattes.

>>

I do the same thing you do and got 15 an hour but I don't think that I deserve more than people working at McDonalds. That job sucks and people who do it because they have limited options deserve a fair wage.

is it so high that 3.5grand a month should be considered minimum wage? How much do you pay for a coke, like 20 bucks?
>>
>>132752138
These restaurants are all automating in response, there's already an autonomous McDick's where I live with just one guy behind the counter and all payment/ordering is done through kiosks or online.

Also why are you doing heavy manual labor when you live in a socialist country with free tuition for bachelors deg
>>
>>132752138
nobody works 28 days per month at McDonald's. also, after taxes that 15/hr is going to be about 100 for 8 hours, if they even get 8 hours per day, and if they get 5 days per week they can walk away with 500 bucks.

that's barely enough to cover rent, food, bills, and our retarded healthcare costs. long story short, America is fucking expensive.
>>
>>132753030
that depends on where you live more than anything. Someone living in commiefornia is gonna have an exorbitant cost of living compared to someone in say Tennessee
>>
>>132753052
my rent is 1,500$ for a 3 bedroom, plus bills ( not including groceries is almost 2.4000$ plus monthly groceries puts me at almost 2,800$ then gas for my car which fluctuates.

I live in Vancouver.

Hordes of billionaire Chineezes have made this like the 3rd most expensive city in the world. If you rent here it's $2k for a tiny 1 bedroom apt, plus you have to pay $60 or so for hydro, $40 internet, $40 for your ripoff telecom, $120/mth++ for insurance for a vehicle, $50/mth tenant insurance, plus $100/mth medical premiums whether you see a doctor or not. The typical wage here (unless you work for the government) is $45k/year - $75k depending on expertise, a senior developer would make around $75k that's it unless you knew somebody.

Most people do not salary slave for the low wages they run their own business instead/become contractors. So OP, complaining about being paid low wages for painting would be a home renovation contractor here hired by the Chineez billionaires to repaint their mansions pink and feng shui the house knocking down walls. A friend of mine runs a balcony cleaning service that is booked for months in advance, and makes about $400/day after expenses doing so, but after taxes he's left with maybe $4k a month, which barely goes anywhere here.

tl;dr if you move to Canada don't come here unless you're a billionaire chinaman

People refuse to get actual skills to work at a real job, so they screech about how their teenager-level job should make as much as something more worthwhile.
Immigrants with zero work or communication skills have 10 kids, but don't understand that working at McDonalds is not a job designed to support a fucking family.
All raising the minimum wage does is create inflation.

I got in an argument with somebody recently.

I have access to management tools at the resturant I work at and we would have to fire 3 full time employees and a part timer in order to maintain labor at 20-28%. We have about 430 labor hours a week and we would have to cut down to 260 in order to keep prices the same.

Rent for a shitty apartment usually costs between 800-1200 / month in burgerland.

However, once everything reaches equilibrium 5-10 years after this law gets enacted, I would expect this average cost to go up, along with the cost of everything else. Gotta keep (((them))) happy after all.
>>
If we kicked out all the illegals the reduction in unskilled labor supply & low end housing demand would render this whole discussion moot. I live in a part of the country with very few illegals; as a result the fast food places start at $9/hr or more, and small apartment or trailer is only $400 a month. That leaves plenty left over as long as you aren't stupid with your money.

>>132752564
Yes cost of living is really expensive

It depends where you live if you live in a state on the coast like California or New York or Florida you can expect everything to be expensive
If you live in a state in the middle of nowhere like Nebraska or Montana life will be cheap

For example a house that costs $100k in montana would be 600k in los angles, CA

But back to the poor people demanding minimum wage
the federal minimum wage is like 7.50 or 8 dollars I can't remember per hour
Yes that's per hour
However when you work you get charged tax on your paycheck and you'll get like 20-30% of it gone to the government

If you work for CASH, i.e. No paperwork involved like a field like construction or manual labor or for women taking care of kids , that doesn't happen
You have to "self report" it to the government when you do taxes and most people lie

If you're doing dangerous manual labor you can get paid 20$/hr here in California

If you do shit like climbing cell phone towers or telephone poles you can be making 60k-100k a year depending on it

This is the beauty of living in a country with a GDP of $18T

Why do you think the unskilled workers of Mexico and Latin America (and the Filipinos and Vietnamese) try their hardest to sneak into this country ?

In Mexico, the very very poor make 6$ a day
So they come here, work and send money back to their country

Oh and for the niggers, the ones who demand 15/hr
Apartment rents are like 1200$ a month

Ironically since they live off minimum wage the government gives them section 8 housing aka they get CASH subsidies to pay for like half of their rent
On top of that they get free food through EBT food stamps and free healthcare through medical Medicare etc
>>
>>132752138
It's leftists. Stuff is expensive. Poor people can't afford stuff, but they work hard. So let's force businesses to pay higher wages. What about the people who already make 15$ an hour? I don't know. Check their privilege or some shit. What if someone can't find a job at all? The government should give them money. Also we need more non-white migrants so we have cheaper labor. What if no one votes for our stupid agenda? Get more non-white migrants. But don't be racist and say that non-whites vote for the left. Oh no, people are still poor. Let's raise the minimum wage to 20$ an hour.

Don't engage with these people. They're disruptors.

>>132754660
>Rent for a shitty apartment usually costs between 800-1200 / month in burgerland
That depends on where you live. In California you can get a 1 bedroom, 800sq ft apartment for $1200 a month, but if you go back east, to say Alabama (inb4) you can get a 4 bedroom, 2000 sq ft house for $600 a month.

A bottle of coke is like $1.50-$2.00
Prices fluctuate depending if it's on sale or not
My girlfriend is currently on vacation in Spain and she told me it's like 30 cents there

The cost of living here is high because 1) rent is high (unless you live in the middle of nowhere but why would you want to do that) 2) people spend MORE than they earn with credit cards, i.e. If I work at mcdonalds why do I want to buy a 700$ iphone? EVERYONE and their mother has the latest phone; latest laptop etc
It's a consumer culture

You gotta pay for rent, your car payment , your food , your phone bills etc etc
The problem is people here don't want to be frugal

Especially the poor people
Life in let's say California is VERY hard without a Car
You gotta pay for gasoline too etc
Ironically they passed a law a few years ago that allows illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses in California

>>132753134
And this too, they usually work part time work which is 4 hours a day, because if you're full time employee (8 hours a day) the company is required by law to give you benefits like health care

It is when you live in a highly regulated city where you aren't allowed to have water drip down to other balconys, so he steam cleans them. Almost everybody here lives in some shitty postage stamp sized apartment in the sky with a tiny balcony.

>You see the problem with leftists is that they argue that raising the minimum wage isn't bad because it's just taking more profit out the pockets of the corporations
They say that. In the long run they're not actually taking money from the rich and giving it to the middle class. They're taking money from the middle class and giving it to the third world. They've set up a moral standard where it's okay to attack "the rich," but rich is relative. Is someone who makes 100,000$ a year rich? Pretty much, from a global perspective. Let's take his money too, since we've accepted that "the rich can afford it" and whatnot.

You realize these places are individually owned right? They pay monthly taxes up to the parent corps who fund the ad campaigns they don't own each individual store. When you open say, a fast food restaurant you pay $100k-1million to the parent company just to use the branding rights and are responsible for all the wages yourself.

University of Washington just released a study on the new $15/hr Seattle wage and they discovered the bottom rung of the ladder has been eliminated, meaning unless you have a degree you aren't even getting a job at McDonalds as they are now eliminating all unskilled labor and only looking for skilled employees even to flip a burger. it isn't that people want $15 an hour, its that they want a living wage. I think that is the real issue.

But the problem is we aren't allowed to talk about the real issues, which involve interest slavery to private banks. There is also poor public planning, where money is considered more important than adequate housing.

Any society should be able to house an adult who works full time on any income level. there is no reason why there cannot be a hotel sized living space for every citizen of a country. To be a citizen, subject to laws, but not entitled to adequate shelter, is a serious problem.

People can argue with me all they want, but the simple fact is that many of these class and income issues would be a thing of the past if we solved the housing problem.

Yeah but where are the so called good jobs dude? To get marketable skills requires a huge upfront investment. Minimum five figures and maybe six including opportunity costs if not working. And then it's so damn competitive to get the good job because everybody wants it. With big companies they pay hardly any tax but benefit enormously from the public coffer and the infrastructure and legal system. In lieu of taxes this wage hike is intended to disperse some of the profits to the worker I guess. I don't know if it will work how much or at all. Maybe no minimum wage and no regs is better but nobody really fucking knows. High minimum wages seem to work well elsewhere, or at least AS well no? Talking about Australia and Denmark.

I started working at 16 years old making 7.10$ leafbucks/hr at Tim Hortons, I didn't like it , I didn't like dealing with people but I had bills to pay. Made enough to pay my bills, had enough left over to buy a case of beer once a month and order out. When I was around 19 years old I was making about 10.50$ per hour. I could easily afford a bachelors apartment and beer on a weekly basis with whatever food I wanted in my fridge. After I got sick of making so little I picked myself up and applied for a roofing labourer job. It was a hard job but I grew from it. Not only in wages but from experience. I now am a shingler with experience in all other applications making 24/hr. Raising the minimum wage to 15 absolutely trivializes the effort I put into to improve myself. Makes my 24 worth less.

I'm a tad ticked.

Well said, but on another note, there are smaller cities with thriving economies and very affordable housing all over the US, especially the South, which is far better than the Midwest at least. I don't mean Nashville or Charlotte or Atlanta, I'm talking cities of ~200k that you've never heard of but are up and coming. Some people can't stomach the idea of not living in their metro area, but you can live in fairly vibrant and busy small cities and qualify for rural development housing loans making it easy af to get a house. The trend already started with people moving to the cities I mentioned, but if people take it a step further and research smaller cities that are doing well, their quality of life can increase significantly. My point is, many Americans CHOOSE to stay in unaffordable areas when they could be building an amazing life somewhere a bit smaller and take their coins back to the metros in a few years (or, more than likely, they'll love where they live).

Mark my words, people will know what Lafayette, Louisiana is in a few years. Perfect example of a small but economically thriving city that's affordable.

We average about $600/month for rent for a cheap apartment. Food is about the same. Utilities are probably less for one person, but not when you factor in car insurance, gas, etc. Public transit isn't worth it unless you're in a city. Also, minimum wage in Florida is $8.10*8=64.8/day. Then taxes are about 22% altogether, so 64.8-14.26=50.54/day. 50.24*5=251.2/week.

In four weeks, we're talking $1005.6.

subtract rent @ 600, food @ 200, and utilities at 200, and you have enough for one pack of cigarettes to last you for the month. Murica isn't all it's cracked up to be.

My own experience:
12K pop small town, 600 sq foot house/shack = $300/month
40k pop larger town near the ocean, 600 sq foot studio apartment = $800/month
Same town, 1200 sq foot house = $1245/month (cheaper than some apartments I looked at, and got a roommate)
200k city, rural suburbs, 2200 sq foot house = $1100/month mortgage
>>
>>132752138
The concept of a minimum wage is fucking retarded

But to answer your question, $15 is not a lot. It's not a lot because of inflation and the insane house prices over there. You can't buy anything with $15 an hour because most of them would be gone for the rent. That will only get worse - you will see a $20 minimum wage soon, but you will be able to buy even less shit with that $20

Don't forget that manual labor in the US 60 years ago could get you a house without a problem, and if you saved and did your accounting correctly you could get two. You can't even get half a house through manual labor anymore - that's the power of inflation. So don't be too fast to judge the minimal wage because its literally pennies.

That's different from saying a 15$ an hour minimum wage is required, because the minimum wage by itself doesn't guarantee you a job. Leftists created the conditions that make shit expensive, now they're using those problems as an excuse for more socialism.

Secondly, the city is a shithole. A state like California is a massive redistribution program from whites to the third world. And you want to say the government can't afford to aid "rural people"? If anyone is promoting unsustainable government assistance for uneducated losers and leeching off the people who built our society it's leftists. If you really want the working class to have more money, why not remove refugees so citizens don't have to pay as much money in taxes to hire Arabic speaking teachers in public schools?

What city are you even talking about? Detroit? Los Angeles? Point to your model for what the rest of America should look like.

"Am I missing something?" It's called useless commie scum who can't get a better job

Enjoy getting cucked by Akmed.

>>132762981
And again, why does "stuff is expensive" justify forcing businesses to pay their employees more than the real market value of their work?

Sure you fuck, just drive out 3 hours where nobody lives and there are no jobs..... retard.

Already feel bad enough for the non city guys who drive 1.5 hours each way on top of an 8-10/hour day.

In Toronto, even to live with dindus is 1k/month. To escape the dindus, getting close to 1300/month. For a 1bdrm.

Now factor in food, travel, insurance (Which is also crazy in Toronto), and a phone/internet, and you are fucking broke.

So clearing 2k a month is fuck all. Always one check away from homeless, especially if you are single/without room mate.

I paraphrase:
"Wages ain't too low! Rent is too damn high!"
We could have affordable housing but then a certain type of criminal element seems to show up every time.

Im aware about this fact. 15$ an hour for jobs remaining and welfare or jail for the rest. Private prisons are on the rise you know. As for sanctuary cities thats the future of all america. Every one of us will be on the government teat unless globalism combated.
>>132765170
When rent is 1-2k a month a wage increase is justified regardless of what you think.
>>
>>132752138
So, in Poland I make about 70PLN/hr (about 19$) working as experienced programmer for a bank. In USA I could make almost as much flipping burgers? This is crazy.

>>132765885
>When rent is 1-2k a month a wage increase is justified regardless of what you think.
It's caused by overpopulation. It justifies mass deportation to address source of the problem.

>As for sanctuary cities thats the future of all america.
We just need death squads to prevent it. Or a dramatic reworking of public policy if there's still time.

Automation solves everything. Leave it to us engineers/programmers, we'll change the world.

Stop using your fake dollars, it gives a wrong impression (and you know it).

CAD 400k = 310k USD = again totally reasonable for a city like Kamloops, and its a house that doesnt even need repairs.

Then you claim CAD 1200/month, which is totally false. In Kamloops on CAD 400k you would pay YEARLY CAD 3677 or USD 200/month

AGAIN, TOTALLY NORMAL

Now im not saying real estate is cheap, but you canadacucks on this board need to learn you're not that special compared to the rest of the developed world.

I make roughly 330 Euro a month and I dont complain

I wouldnt be surprised quality of life on certain metrics in Greece is way above average USA.

Sure you have amazing places in USA, but there's a ton of absolute, soul-crushing shitholes too.
>>
The job market is so over saturated that what was once a 'summer' job is becoming a permanent job because there just isn't anything else available. I work in a grocery store and the three other people in my section are two dads and a 60 year old man.

8 hours working McDonalds only destroys your dignity.

Upper middle?
Come on, 3500 a month is upper class territory even in Italy.

The solution is to deport the illegals before we become illegal status in our own country ourselves. Trump knows exactly what hes doing but hes decades late. As for death squads i dont know it seems rural people just kill themselves instead.
>>
>>132752564
Shit how do you even live? Unemployed people get about 800€/month here, it's not even worth working at this point.

>demand top dollar to browse facebook and take 4 shits a day on the company toilet.

Don't forget 4 pee breaks which are also 10-20 minutes long due to staring at their phones. Their 3 20 minute paid breaks. 1 hour paid lunch. And aimless chit-chat and catching up with coworkers for 30 minutes when they get to work and before they leave for the day.

Then the actual "work" time is spent looking busy and dicking around on their phone.

maybe in canada but I know a place that starts at $14 an hour and looking for at least 40 more people but you need to be mechanically inclined.

Cost of living.

I make 1400-1500 and I'm pretty well off here in Italy.

I know plenty of 50 year olds making 700-800/month on shitty contracts with pretty much 0 rights.

Then work another part time job. I don't think I've ever seen a min wage job that's meant to be long term.

Even working at fucking Walmart is more than min wage, and you could move up there at the very least... It's like proponents of min wage hikes have no fucking ambition and treat their job at Baskin Robins like it's a career.
>>
>>132752138
Minimum wage is $11 an hour and I make $11.25 doing basically nothing and living with mummy and daddy. Feels good man.
