Jews did it in order to control the money supply.

It has caused endless inflation since being enacted

this infographic explains most of it

>Was the Gold Standard better for the US economy?
No, gold was very limited and it was ours.
>Why did we move away from it in the first place?
We replaced it with oil, which we had more access to than gold, because the oil was someone elses.
Please search "petro dollar" for more details.

Rather than every country falling back on gold we preferred every country fall back on the USD as the world reserve currency

Fiat currency is the fraud of the age.
>>
>>132749146
As much as a Gold Standard seems like it means money is backed by something it is literally fiat currency with an extra step. Gold is not intrinsically worth anything except that which we abscribe to it. The whole monetary system is just a tool for comparing value of goods & services. At least the fiat system is more honest in that regard. It's basically backed by our labour which is really the only thing of intrinsic value we have to offer.

this anon gets it

This monetary system was enacted to literally drive inflation and ensure that those at the top will stay there indefinitely.

how?

Well, us plebeians grow our wealth at a rate consistent with the going price of waged.

((They)) grow their wealth at a rate consistent with inflation (via loans, etc...)

By creating a system which causes constant inflation, they insure constant profits.

This is literally why America and Israel lead the world in income inequality

Gold is rare and useful. More now than ever.

The Gold Standard was honest money in its time (money backed by tangible assets, not consumer confidence, military force, or oil sales like today). However, the GS is not a good idea now because the gold market is largely monopolized by a small handful of very, very, very wealthy individuals and foreign governments. If you want to break free from debt-based money, like the dollar, you can have the state issue currency by trading labor for money, not by banks loaning money from thin air with interest attached. The latter idea is why the US government/citizens are so debt ridden, and why commercial banking is one of the most lucrative businesses in modern history. Research fractional reserve lending to understand this concept.

Good luck tacking away the monetary powers from the private banks/FED.

Gold is only needed in trace amounts for industrial applications. And any gold used for these purposes isn't available for reserve. The gold standard is literally worthless. You faggots are literally worshipping a shiny rock.

Use Gold has unique physical chemical characteristics that made it very valuable. It is the most maleable and ductile of all the metals and has the highest corrosion resistance. it is corroded only by a mixture of nitric and hydrocloric acid. Gold is a noble metal because it does not oxidize.
>>
>>132749146
the reason given is not enough gold to sustain the economy.... can you see the flawed logic there? also, for the first time in pretty much ever, because of electronics and medical breakthroughs, gold has an industrial use, so I've heard it argued that staying on a gold and silver standard would make high technology prohibitively expensive, however, there is no good argument i've seen for going to a gemstone/gold/silver/etc. mix. IE you could go to the government and request the cash equivalent of 10K in diamonds, or silver, or iridium, etc. and it would be a good way to maintain a resource backed currency while not driving prices of vital resources into space.

Which has no bearing on why we should use the gold standard. The conversion rate is artificial, the system is artificial. Monetary systems are by their nature artificial because they are of no intrinsic value, they are a tool to compare apples and oranges, literally.

The gold standard prevents government overspending by requiring them to have actual assets of real value to cover costs.
It changed to oil and magic beans due to the low rates gold is mined.

You cannot have a war with the gold standard, doing so almost ruined the UK
without wars the US becomes an irrelevant place for china to dump cheap shit on.

>"You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold." William Jennings Bryan 7/9/1896

At the time, the gold supply was controlled by the (((wealthy east coast bankers))). The common western farmer transacted in silver but was required to exchange silver for gold at (((unfavorable))) prices to obtain financing. Bryan proposed a bimetal system with a fixed ratio of 16 silver to 1 gold, freeing the farmer from the banks.

Gemstones aren't used as currency because they lack the uniformed characteristics of precious metals. Once you melt it down, gold is gold is gold. Each gemstone is unique and its value is derived once it is cut by a master craftsman. The cutting process is a significant value add verses the raw gemstone.
