Yes. I'm friends with a lot of doctors. They are so busy studying, working, and learning the endless complexities of the Human body that they lose all concept of society. If you ever talk to a Physician at any point from Medical School until they are well established in their career there's almost nothing they can talk about besides medicine. For the most part they are not well rounded people with diverse interests.
Furthermore, they typically don't get involved in the research side of things. The ones that study science in Undergrad often study biology, which is more focused on memorizing facts than actual experimentation. They are programmed to accept what the literature tells them. That's why they created the Opioid epidemic here in the states. They were told to be more aggressive about treating chronic pain and that drugs like Oxycontin and Hydrocodone aren't addictive if you're using them to treat pain.
Simple observation could have told them otherwise but they don't do that. They aren't scientists. They just do what scientists tell them to do.
