Is it ironic that many/most on the left consider people on the right "uneducated" and often flat out stupid, and hold themselves to be "intellectuals". And yet, truly intellectual people know how to have discourse and difference of opinion without getting violent.

I notice the ridiculous claims to intelligence as well. It is all sides but it comes so strongly from them. The Bernie crowd has shown itself to be the violent people in 2016. From personal experience, the pro-choice crowd seems to be the most educated and outright unscientific as well despite the stereotype being placed on the pro-lifers.

The dems that are violent aren't the smart ones retard.

That would be largely, though indirectly, proving my point. The ones that aren't violent themselves incite violence from others and/or they condone/don't disavow the violence.
My ultimate point is that people who are intelligent are supposed to be able to have civil discussions including disagreements without it escalating beyond that. Yet the left tends to use tactics of shouting over others, name-calling, and personal attacks (insults). When you are intelligent and have evidence to support your point (regardless of whether you are right or wrong), why should things escalate to insults (even if not reaching the point of violence)?
