>JUST AS THE HOUSE Republican bill to slash much of the Affordable Care Act moved forward, Rep. Mike Conaway, a Texas Republican and member of Speaker Paul Ryan’s leadership team, added a health insurance company to his portfolio.

>An account owned by Conaway’s wife made two purchases of UnitedHealth stock, worth as much as $30,000, on March 24th, the day the legislation advanced in the House Rules Committee, according to disclosures. The exact value of Conaway’s investment isn’t clear, given that congressional ethics forms only show a range of amounts, and Conaway’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

Typical Republican swamp behavior. Corrupt motherfuckers. Trump is the worst of all

Happens with any change. This is just feeding ignorant people so they'll give them views (watch commercials).

Does it? Or does it only seem to happen when republicans make the rules to rig the game from Washington, and then go out into the private sector to abuse them?

Enron
Blackwater

You should know after this election that it's happening all the time, it only matters what they allow to be reported. You don't have to remember back far to recall the blatant democrat corruption. The market however doesn't have an allegiance and anybody looking to invest will do so no matter which way the wind blows.

After this past election I'm not a big fan of the democrats either, but are the democrats rigging laws left and right to line their own pockets in the private sector? It's like line number one of the republican platform.

I feel like this is good and bad. It speaks well for their faith in their repeal and how it will work for insurance companies but it doesn't seem particularly ethical.

Its not as bad as lobbying though in my opinion.

It's literally insider trading.
>>
>>132678956
It's really just the media reporting on it.

Is the plan not public?

what exactly do you think the stock market is?

The guy who gets to vote on whether or not it get's passed has a personal economic interest in it passing. He's not voting on behalf of his district, he's voting on behalf of his wallet.

I'd say it counts.
>>
>Laws hinder market
>Public plan to remove said laws going into action
>Invest in market preemptively
>REEE THIS IS BAD BECAUSE I SAID SO!
>>
>>132681093
Choosing to profit of off legislation you think will pass is not as bad as being paid off to vote a certain way, in my opinion.
>>
>>132682084
Both are bad and subvert the purpose of representative democracy. But he's dismissing the interests of the people he represents to line his own pockets. Nobody had to bribe him, he did it all on his own.
>>
>>132682728
Is he dismissing the interests of people he represents? A lot of people want it gone.

It's the 11th district in Texas which historically does swing super republican. But the interesting thing is the income in that area is lower middle class. These people make like $32k a year, these are the people the ACA was designed for. He's getting rich, and his constituency is dying.
>>
>>132675388
By this same logic, the ACA's enactment was due to insider trading as well. The enactment or repeal of any legislation can be countered as possibly benefiting insider traders. Shit argument.
