It would allow for a tiny percentage of the country's landmass to determine the fate of the entire country because of 1 or 2 major cities. Pretty much all blue states are only blue because they have a disproportionately large urban population.

Look at pic related, should those areas speak for the entire country because they have most of the population?

Think of it as Britain ruling over its colonies in the US. They both vote equally, (yes I know that wasn't how it went down), but Britain has a higher population. Who should determine the laws for the production of tobacco?

The areas who make the popular vote democrat are already completely blue on a local stage. They are simply trying to apply what governs them to the 90+ percent of the country's landmass that doesn't want their policies.
>>
>>132664241
It's not really a lack of logic on his part, though. It's more that America has a specialized system that most of the rest of the civilised world doesn't use in order to make concessions to the contingent of people not living on the coastal towns. In a like-for-like democratic vote, Trump lost. Hard. I just find you Americans lolworthy when you go in on Europe for being cucked but had you not had the Electoral College you would have elected THE SHITTIEST candidate in American history as president. I guess you should thank your lucky stars for it. Still, it's a stark indication that you just narrowly escaped another 8 years of Democrats fucking up your and by extension most of the civilised world's countries, since retarded post-modern American belief systems came from the new world and has jack fuck to do with us.

We are composed of fifty different governments, each with their own legislative, executive, and judicial branch. The height of the hilarity comes from, "MUH ELECTORAL COLLEGE IS BROKEN!" detractors. If they really wanted it to change they'd make an amendment for it.

And much of that had to do with the self interests of people living there at that time. Not the interests if the future population of the entire nation. So yeah, why exactly should New York include the city and then include upstate areas which stretch all the way to the midwest, therefore shutting out an entire area of rural and small town/city people, putting them at the mercy of the mega urban city dwellers? You just tipped you hand. Yes, I'm aware I don't always get what I want. It's called being an adult.

You're just going to have to accept there are people in the USA that don't agree with you and you can't ramrod laws through to shut them up. So, guess what? You're just going to have to deal with them. And your "geographical question" was answered already. States have their own level of independence, autonomy, and identity that goes beyond federal.

Enjoy those checks and balances. They're not going away any time soon.

>>
>>132670764

Well, 1.) They don't like the system to begin with, 2.) They can't get enough people to change it, 3.) They never bothered to research how. There are multiple methods to get an amendment made. What they're crying for isn't an amendment process but to do away with the process and institute another with themselves on top.

That shit's whacked. They're just going to have to learn people disagree with them and those that disagree with them can't simply be ignored. That's what the spirit of "rights" is all about.

Get fucked.
>>
>>132670704
I have no agenda beyond pointing out that yhe system is flawed. Anyone can see this. Putting lines on a map on voting based on those will disadvantage people unless you draw the lines in some sort of fair manner. You haven't proved that the lines are fair. Federal laws can override state laws and state autonomy doesn't help when the states demographics are skewed.
>>
>>132670418
You have no argument. Hell, you can't even spell. Politics are based on geography as much as people, as geography dictates the needs of people in their sphere. Others in this nation enjoy the benefits of including these geographic areas and therefore must have a means to keep them included in the process, otherwise you have large areas disenfranchised completely-this leads to revolution. As far as numbers go, no candidate gets a majority of even eligible voters, let alone the populace; so that argument is void. We aren't a democracy, were not founded as one and do not want one.
>>
>>132671307
But you have yet to successfully point out a flaw. All of your presented, "flaws," were based on misconceptions that were already cleared up. In fact, all you're doing is rehashing the same thing over and over and ignoring any answers you've been given. It's pretty pathetic. It's already been explained multiple times why it's fair. And no, federal laws do not always override state laws. And yes, state autonomy does help. And yes, demographics ARE skewed, which is why there's an electoral system.

All you want is to have it your way, Burger King style. Grow up. This isn't fast food politics. You can't make sweeping changes to a system that's already designed to change, do away with it, and then ignore the opinions of a vast majority of the USA on feelings and vague statements like, "arbitrary," especially after a coherent argument why it's not arbitrary was given to you.

Grow up, kid.

You have to argue it doesn't fit the current needs. And so far there are far more arguments that it serves rather than detracts.

Hilariously, none of you have made actual arguments. It's typical. You just argue, "Well, let's look into it!" There's no need to. Either make your case of buzz off. Single phrase responses like, "It's not fair!" or "It's arbitrary!" do not constitute arguments.
>>
>>132673078
You received counter-arguments. Just because I don't immediately agree with what you want doesn't mean you were ignored, you brat.
>>
>>132666206

Large cities with even larger amounts of illegal voters don't count.
>>
>>132673110
I gave California, NY, and Kansas City as specific examples. They all follow the same idea, arbitrary grouping of rural and urban areas based on geographic features like rivers and mountains. Or tiny states like Rhode Island which automatically get free representation beyond the factor of their population. Those aren't single phrases so now you're just lying.
>>
Why are we discussing how US elections work when the OP picture is about the 2008 Democrat Party primary?
>>
>>132664321
according to this retarded logic, we don't need a president. We could just set up a website and have people cast votes on things, majority wins. Go to war with Korea? Let's vote. Abolish abortion? Let's vote. Sound fair? Majority rules, right?
>>
>>132661281
In this pic she look like a psycho ( i know she is one)
>>
>>132673525
Except the cause for them getting electors was already explained. Multiple times. You're just rehashing now to try and win through endurance rather than argument. Go back and read the reasons. Restating the exact same arguments doe not revoke any counter-arguments you were given.

This is what I meant by, "Grow up." You're just stamping your feet and plugging your ears.
>>
>>132667312
You spelled Unwanted wrong

>>132661281
She's the perfect Democrat and that's why she lost. Sure, she can appeal to every bleeding heart liberal in this god forsaken country, but with that she ruffles the feathers of every red voter and gives them the motivation to do things like tear down the entire blue wall in the midwest save Illinois and win every swing state but Nevada.
>>
>>132673214
I addressed California and NY, you said nothing.

I addressed that state lines appear arbitrary. You said they were intentionally made by people. I said that this was done by people living there at that time with their own interests. You didn't respond. You have never given an example of a state with well designed borders.

Electoral voting prevents power of potus election being campaign-fund channeled into 2 or 3 states, ignoring the wants of the rest of the nation.

Don't like it libshits?

Get the fuck out, dirty commies.

Not only did I give an explanation but so did others. Now you're diving into the land of delusion.

You didn't give an actual example. You just state the word arbitrary over and over, all while using arbitrary criteria yourself. If anything were closer to an objective "fair," it would be to break up larger states and their population. Large population centers breed crime, violence and social isolation by going against scientifically proven standards of human evolution. People cannot live and flourish psychologically in groups over 150 or so, and develop all the problems we see today when they do. So, if we need to redraw anything, it would be California to start.
>>
>>132673701
You give a very generalized of the explanation of rural vs urban electorate issue. You don't give actual examples of it working. I already clearly explained that I understand the rural vs urban issue.

Those are examples of states with large urban areas which shut off the rural population from having federal power. But thanks for giving an idea of how to fix it, unlike our retarded friend over here. He ignores how his system works for him at a national level but screws him at a state level.

This bullshit meme needs to end. It has nothing to do with cities deciding the election. The USA is the United STATES of America. It was never intended to be a country comparable to France/Germany or any other European country. It was intended to be a union of highly autonomous separate states. Therefore it makes logical sense for the states to decide the president, not the people. The people democratically decide on the leader of their state - the governor. It doesn't make so much sense now because consecutive governments have pissed all over the constitution, taking power away from the states and trying to morph it into one big country with a single centralised government - that shit never works without turning authoritarian like USSR, China, India. The idea is to have the people from Idaho governing themselves, while the people of Georgia govern Georgia. It's retarded to have someone in California voting on an issue that will have an effect on education in Florida.
Europeans can't seem to grasp this concept.

When Illinois finally goes tits up the Democratic Party will be dead. All those patronage job employees will eat their own and follow some other movement. why the fuck are you so obsessed with borders like a weirdo commie nutjob? they're not going to change. they are a permanent fixture to this republic whether you like it or not. they're no less relevant now than they were 240 years go regardless if they meet your definition of arbitrary or not. It's the most pointless argument when the citizens are free to relocate through them at will.
