It may well be more likely to be true over in the US under the guise of being hard on crime, but not in Europe.

I don't think any governments in Europe runs the risk of putting Sharia Law in place, but I do fear the ideology becoming a bigger force in the future. Is this unfounded?

All of Islam is a threat to the entire world. Islam is at war with the world. It's followers carry with them a support for Islam and its goal of a global caliphate that supersedes their loyalty to any given nation or local government.
Just because a Muslim doesn't commit acts of terror, that doesn't mean they don't support those who do. When a terror attack occurs, they might show disdain for the attack in public, but in private they will celebrate the deaths of their own neighbors. As long as you don't practice Islam you are their enemy
