I love south Carolina, i currently live in Aiken but during school times i reside in Columbia. Aiken is comfy, fair majority being white - the nigs usually reside in the north side of Aiken.

also due to not being relatively rural , i.e has a lot of money , but the land that surround Aiken is generally rural.
So in sense a buffer to the deep south.

Depends on what type of lifestyle you want. You an outdoors guy? Or do you see yourself doing the socialite thing? Money matters of course. Personally I would live off the peninsula. But I like to kayak, fish, and grow veggies/raise animals more than I like going to bars.
