How viable is it to own land in Vermont?

A Propostion:
Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are all overcrowded shitholes, as we all know. I propose that those of us able and willing to move, migrate to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont*.
All three states have low populations and can thus be ideologically changed to fit our views if a large influx of rightwingers were to come in and set up shop. (This is especially the case for VT which has a population of only 600k)

There may even be the prospect of setting up an east coast equivalent of PNW if this were to happen, thoughts?
