If I were you I'd stay and try to make it better. When I was in college I met a Guatemalan who was absolutely bro-tier so I know there's at least some of you who are alright. You guys could eventually be a regional power in central america if you got your shit together. Just focus on improving yourself first and maybe join a local nationalist party or something. I've heard there's a decent amount of support for retaking belize so you must have some sort of nationalist movement.

Also I think it has a lot to do with the mentality of the people. If you start a political party, which focuses on the collective, and takes pride in who they are, and build great monuments produce literature & art that will last through the ages, it gives people pride & a sense of belonging and also an incentive to produce more for their country, future generations & accomplishments.

I think Nationalism is less about mindlessly praising your nation/making up achievements to praise, and more about showing loyalty to your homeland and larger community. Being a team player, if you will. Also, not insulting your fellow citizens in an effort to kowtow to foreigners. And don't kiss foreigner ass in an effort to impress them; no one is impressed by displays of weakness or submission.

In short, I believe the main point of Nationalism currently is a rejection of narcissism and the desperate search for praise and approval from the "other" that has overtaken most of the West. Be proud or at least secure in who you are and where you come from. That doesn't mean you need to define yourself exclusively by those things. But don't run away from them so quickly you end up as another Tumblr casualty of SJW craziness.
