It does. Getting a firearms license is next to impossible if you're not politically connected.

You must either hunt (requiring its own license) or belong to a shooting club (which requires references from members to join) and shoot regularly. Semi autos in calibers more powerful than .22LR are even more difficult, nigh on impossible, to acquire unless, you guessed it, you have the right connections. Handguns are just flat-out banned.

Rifles must be stored with the bolt in a separate location, in a locked safe which is subject to random police inspections without warrant or probably cause. Guns may not be used in defence of life or property and, even if they could, the lack of semi-auto or barrels of reasonable length means they wouldn't be much use anyway.

The worst part, however, is that the general population is so heavily propagandized against civilian gun ownership that the situation is unlikely to ever change. Banning guns (or restricting them in any way) is like electing a Muslim government - once done it's never going away. Fight until your last breath for your rights, burgers, because once lost they will never be returned.
